The Jets saw one of their former cornerbacks agree to terms with the Patriots on Wednesday night, which means Darrelle Revis is not walking back through those doors.

There’s still a need for a cornerback after the team released Antonio Cromartie, though, and one option appears to be Captain Munnerlyn. Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer reports that Munnerlyn is scheduled to visit both the Jets and the Buccaneers.

Munnerlyn returned an interception for a touchdown against the Jets during the 2013 season, giving them a first-hand view of the playmaking ability that has led to four touchdowns in the last two seasons. He’s not Revis, of course, but he’d be a strong addition on a depth chart currently filled by Dee Milliner and not much else of note. The same is true of the Bucs, although they did just sign Alterraun Verner to go with Johnthan Banks.

The Jets and Bucs would need Munnerlyn to leave his first visit of free agency without a contract to have a chance at signing him. Munnerlyn was set to visit the Vikings on Wednesday night.

Munnerlyn has expressed interest in returning to Carolina, but Person reports the Panthers have yet to offer him a contract. Last year, they waited until Munnerlyn hit the market to bring him back on a one-year deal but that might not be a possibility this time given the interest in giving Captain a new uniform.
