The Texans parted ways with longtime tight end Owen Daniels to start the week, but they won’t be letting Garrett Graham move on.
John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that Graham has re-signed with the team. Graham comes in at No. 93 on PFT‘s list of the top 100 free agents, a fair number of spots below another tight end with the last name Graham who also won’t be leaving his 2013 team.
Graham took on an expanded role after Daniels broke his leg last season and finished the year with 49 catches for 545 yards and five touchdowns. He should be a reliable option for whoever winds up quarterbacking the Texans next season and, at the moment, he’ll be complemented by Ryan Griffin on the depth chart at the position. Griffin is more of a receiver than a blocker, which may lead Houston to add a player skilled in that area.
With Graham off the market, Brandon Pettigrew, Jermichael Finley and Daniels rank at the top of the list of available free agent tight ends.
