After three seasons spent with the New Orleans Saints, linebacker Will Herring is set to join the Dallas Cowboys.
The former Saints’ special teams captain tweeted Thursday that he would not be returning to New Orleans and had agreed to a deal to join the Cowboys.
Herring appeared in all 16 games for New Orleans in each of the last two seasons after signing as a free agent in 2011 following four years in Seattle. Herring played mainly on special teams and sparingly as a reserve linebacker. Herring started one game and had 13 tackles and an interception for the Saints on the year.
Over the course of his seven-year career, Herring has posted 144 tackles, three interceptions, three forced fumbles and one sack.
