Giants slated to meet with Rodgers-Cromartie after Jets

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie’s last game was at MetLife Stadium and the chances he’ll be playing there next season are getting better.

As previously reported, the cornerback is scheduled to fly to New Jersey to visit with the Jets this weekend. Conor Orr of the Newark Star-Ledger reports that Rodgers-Cromartie is then slated to meet with the Giants, although that meeting is obviously contingent on Rodgers-Cromartie failing to reach agreement on a deal with the Jets.

The Giants re-signed Trumaine McBride to go with Prince Amukamara at corner, but Rodgers-Cromartie would give them the kind of depth needed to match up with the better passing offenses in the league. With Stevie Brown back, the Giants are well-stocked at safety as well so Rodgers-Cromartie’s arrival would give them a lot of options in the secondary.

They’ll need him to get past the Jets for that to happen, though, and the possibility of losing a good corner to the other team in the stadium might get the Jets to hit Rodgers-Cromartie’s price.

Did they split costs on the plane ticket to fly him out there?

Giants are just sticking it to the Jets. Make them pay a bit more.

Do they give him a stadium tour? Or would it be too soon?

Paper, rock, scissors on who picks up the tab on travel costs!!! He’ll give us the nod but will milk the G men for a day on the town. He already knows what our facilities are like, so straight to the club baby!!!

Jets you need to get this done. So far good off season. This would ice it until the draft.

1 Super Bowl vs. 4 Super Bowls.

    Tough choice.

Rolle and Rodgers-Cromartie together!? Giants are planning a lot of coverage sacks this year!!

Giants have been thin in their secondaries for years. They would use their great pass rush to mask how weak their secondaries have been. If they pull this off, it would the best secondary they’ve had in a while.

    The other Cromartie is better

I’m sure DRC will take one look at the Giants joke of a defense and decide to play for the Jets for free.

Jets fans… your team is a bottom dweller. Stop talking.. we smashed you en route to our 4th title. 1969 was before all of you commenting on this site were born…

Giants will be 5-11, it really doesn’t matter who they sign.

Giants sign DRC…our secondary would be incredible

NFL teams are crazy. Unless this was all set up Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, why suddenly show interest now after the Jets do? I see this with other players where they have apparently no interest until one team does and then all these others try and follow and usually the player doesn’t bother to visit them as he signs with the first team.

Maybe it is indeed all set up days before and the player looks to make his rounds around the same time.

As a jets fan I have a feeling he’s going to Giants, Super Bowl winning QB and a division that can be won at 9-7

  17. mavix27 says: Mar 14, 2014 7:49 PM

A Giants fan with the name “NoHopeLeft”…how fitting.

  18. bigjoe2269 says: Mar 14, 2014 7:50 PM

@n0hopeleft smashed? lol you watched a different game than I did and lets face it 3 of your 4 superbowl wins are flukes and 1 play away from loses – get a grip on reality. missed fg by norwood , catch off helmet and a dropped pass by welker those are your legacy – stop making it like you go 14-2 and steamroll everyone – a mediocre team since 86 that gets lots of breaks

  19. tuucamaron says: Mar 14, 2014 8:15 PM

DRC had one of the fastest 40

  20. teamvic80nyg says: Mar 14, 2014 8:27 PM

    NOOO draft Justin Gilbert instead.

  21. thealmightybigblue says: Mar 14, 2014 8:34 PM

Luck fluke what ever at the end of the day a win is a win. 4Rings is 4rings how many do the Jets have? when the last time the Jets been to the Big Dance? Our legacy speaks for its Self. If he wants to win he’ll play for the Giants.

  23. cmgftbll19 says: Mar 14, 2014 10:56 PM

Snag DRC. Draft ebron. Win the NFC east.

  24. jetswithnoengine says: Mar 14, 2014 11:45 PM

The Jets endless ability to suck is definitely no fluke though is it. The Jets are like an unwelcome growth on our sweaty under carriage no one likes it but they are still there lol.

  25. jetsareballs says: Mar 15, 2014 9:41 AM

Hey DRC. Do yourself a favor and stay away from the circus we call the jets. Go to the NY team that actually can do something right

  26. gmen4rings says: Mar 15, 2014 12:50 PM

Jets own the most embarrassing play of all time, the infamous dirty sanchez butt fumble… Plus their head coach has a tattoo of Sanchez, DRC would be wise to avoid the Jets and go to a team with history and legacy.

  27. mhohmann says: Mar 15, 2014 5:22 PM

Jets fans should not be talking smack about Giants Super Bowl wins. Eagles fans even more so. Suck it. At least the Eagles look like they will be good this year. Geno Smith sucks.
