Henry Melton to go see Cowboys after Seattle trip

For a guy coming off a torn ACL, Henry Melton’s getting plenty of attention.

He’s already visited the Vikings and is with the Seahawks now, but he has more trips lined up.

According to Clarence HIll of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Melton is scheduled to visit the Cowboys after his journey to the Pacific Northwest.

Granted, scheduled to doesn’t always mean they make it, but the Cowboys certainly have a need for someone to shore up their defensive line.

After cutting DeMarcus Ware and letting Jason Hatcher and Anthony Spencer walk unfettered into free agency, they desperately need some talent up front.

The amount of interest also gives Melton some leverage in talks with the Bears, as they’ve indicated they want to talk to him after he gets a sense of the market.

The Cowboys defense desperately needed talent even before Ware, Hatcher, or Spencer left.

He can line up whatever visits he wants with teams, but the key for the SMART teams will be passing a physical.

Of course, Dallas may just sign him anyways, because you know, Jerry.

Come to the dark side Henry, Oakland Raiders are waiting…

Really disappointed he most likely won’t be back in Chicago. He was very underrated last season, and if he didn’t get hurt this year there’s a strong chance the Bears make the playoffs and don’t have the franchise’s worse defense. Hope he recovers to full strength and avoids losing that first step, ala Tommie Harris.

I think he’s just wasting everyone’s time … he’s trying to find out what his value is so he can go back and negotiate with the Bears.

Seattle really need this guy. but the truth is he’ll get paid more elsewhere. be realistic.

Do you seriously think an NFL front office would sign a guy to a multi – million dollar deal, fresh off ACL surgery, without a physical? Even Jerry isn’t that stupid.

I hope he joins Marinelli in Dallas, even though he’s had a bit of the injury bug. But if he went to the Hawks that would be scary. He could even back up Shawn, Turbin, and Michael. Dude was a bruising RB at UT.

He won’t get out of seattle without his new contract

sorry bout your bad luck Chicago and Seattle Dallas has this one in the bag!!

  16. trollhammer20 says: Mar 14, 2014 1:48 PM

So, Henry, you want to go look at old trophies inside a case? Or you want to play a part in winning a shiny new one? Because that’s the difference between Dallas and Seattle right now.

Seattle isn’t going back to the Superbowl this year. Denver has a better chance and I’m a cowboys fan.

Melton should be an excellent fit for Marinelli’s defense in Dallas. I have to think Melton would like to play for Marinelli again too.

After the shenanigans he pulled in his home town bar in December, I don’t want him on my team. Biting another man in the kidney area and bragging about being a millionaire to the rest of the “white trash” in the bar doesn’t exactly make me want to cheer for him.

  20. chicagosports2014 says: Mar 14, 2014 3:19 PM

He isn’t coming home to Dallas don’t worry. But he will play with hometown bro Lamar Houston!

    BearDown! !!!!

Melton is a good, not great player coming off an ACL injury. He also has a questionable work ethic and desire. Anything more than 6M/year is too much for him. Somebody is going to overpay for him. Buyer beware!

  22. GBwomenrhot says: Mar 14, 2014 10:40 PM

He’s sadly mistaken if he thinks the Bears are going to have any money left by the time ‘his tour’ is over.

Can’t wait to see how much old Jerry overpays to have a Texan on the roster….

  23. stunzeed5 says: Mar 16, 2014 1:56 PM

Why would he want to join a Dallas defense that was historically pathetic last year?
