PFT: Marvin Lewis gets one-year extension

The PFT crew break down Marvin Lewis’ one-year extension with the Bengals. Erik Kuselias wonders if Lewis should be held accountable for failing to win a single playoff game during his 11-year tenure with the Bengals.

  1. GM/Coach, sit down and talk to this guy…I think he can help…..
There are a lot worse QBs on NFL rosters that has never had the success Vince Young has had …(NFL Rookie of the Year, 2 Pro Bowls, Playoff experience and Mobility). Vince has a career winning record of 31-19…
I hope he gets another chance even if it’s third string…

  2. If only Mike Brown took offense to him not caring. Sadly that’s the way it is, and it will never take the Bengals anywhere. Maybe he will realize one day the reason he struggles with sellouts is because they are always one and done. How disappointing.

  3. 32 teams want the best, 32 teams via for the SB. The best coach in the NFL? Is it BB of the Pats? Is it a Harbaugh? Each one of those has taken over a team in a different situation, with a different background than Marv has. Marvin was lucky, in that he was able to stay on and learn from his mistakes without getting fired (see BB while at Cleveland). Despite what people think, change for the sake of change is not a preferred method and who out there is better than Lewis? Hire Cowher (never)? Gruden (he’s better in the booth)? I am confident that the discussion of replacing Marv was never seriously considered, not after so many firsts in franchise history.
