Currently, the going rate for veteran running backs tops out at three years, $10.5 million.
It’s the amount given to Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart and to Chargers running back Donald Brown. Per a league source, those are also the terms given to new Eagles running back Darren Sproles.
Per a league source, Sproles’ new deal pays out $10.5 million over three years, with $5.5 million guaranteed. (It’s unclear how much is fully guaranteed.) Sproles also is eligible for an annual Pro Bowl incentive of $100,000.
Sproles had been due to earn a base salary of $3.5 million in 2014, the final year of the contract he signed in 2011 with the Saints.
