Report: David Stewart indicates he’s probably retiring

For almost a decade, the Titans’ depth chart was unchanged at offensive tackle. Michael Roos has manned the left side since entering the league in 2005, and David Stewart took over on the right side in 2006.

Now, Stewart is gone, with former Ravens tackle Michael Oher set to take his place. And from the sound of it, it appears Stewart’s NFL career could be at a close after his release Wednesday from Tennessee.

In an interview with Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennessean for a story published Friday, the 31-year-old Stewart indicated he was leaning toward retirement.

“We had a ball along the way, made some good friends in Nashville with the Titans. Now it is time to get healthy and live life with the family. I had a good run, enjoyed it, and it’s time to move on,” Stewart told Wyatt.

If the book is closed on Stewart’s NFL career, he exits with 116 regular season starts in nine seasons.

He also exits with the respect of one of the NFL’s top pass rushers:

Our O-line is going to miss that nasty mauler attitude. Sad to see him go out early due the injuries of the past two season. Good luck in post football life, BC. We’ll miss you on Sundays in Nashville.
