Calvin Pace returns to the Jets

The Jets haven’t signed many free agents so far.  On Sunday, they kept one of their own.

A league source tells PFT that linebacker Calvin Pace has re-signed with the Jets.  It’s a two-year deal worth $5 million.

Pace, 33, signed a six-year deal with the Jets in 2008.  Released last year, he re-signed with the team for another season.

The former Cardinals entered the league in 2003 as a first-round pick.  He spent five seasons in Arizona.

Pace has started every game of the last three seasons.  In 2013, he racked up a career high 10 sacks.

He joins tight end Jeff Cumberland, defensive end Leger Douzable, kicker Nick Folk, cornerback Ellis Lankster, and cornerback Darrin Walls as players who have re-signed with the Jets.

This was expected. Bet Sanchez is cut within the next two days.

Good move. Being patient making smart simple moves. Remember how much money Miami spent last year in FA? How’d that work out?

good job. He benefited from the inside pass rush last season. Now just do not sign vick.

Can he play OLB? He was pretty terrible last year.

Get me James Jones and a corner and I’ll be ecstatic about free agency.

If the Jets can sign James Jones, maybe
resign Cro, and possibly add MJD… they can
makes some noise. MJD would share carries
with Ivory. Cro can be had for a steal as can

Y don’t the jets sign any new players. They really need to

  11. petehemlock says: Mar 16, 2014 5:18 PM

He can give Terrell Suggs a run for his money in the world’s ugliest OLB contest.

What an amazing move by future HOF executive John Idzik. Calvin Pace is a phenominal talent with great run stopping ability and a quick first step.

He’s not an all pro by any means, but there aren’t any other players with double digit sacks that will get a contract that only pays 5 million.

Glad Pace is back. Sign James Jones and Rodgers-Cromartie and free agency is a success. Then draft a TE or OL with the 18th pick. Pick some more WRs, DBs later on in the draft. This team is improving.

I say bring Cro back for half the cap number he would’ve had (if possible) and forget about his overpriced cousin.

    Idzik is so crafty.

Small but solid move.. Welcome back..

He was decent last year but the sacks might have been a result go the jets monster DLINE. As Herm Edwards said the Jets have a big boy defense.
