Spencer Paysinger signs restricted free agent tender with Giants

The Giants landed one of the biggest fish left on the open market Monday by agreeing to a contract with cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

That wasn’t their only roster move of the day, however. The NFL’s daily list of transactions shows that linebacker Spencer Paysinger signed his restricted free agent tender and will remain with the team.

Paysinger started 10 games for the Giants last season and recorded 74 tackles and one sack. It was Paysinger’s third year with the Giants and his most extensive starting experience, but the addition of Jameel McClain to the linebacking corps that also includes Jacquian Williams on the outside may mean a lesser role for Paysinger in 2014.

Paysinger will make $1.431 million under the terms of the tender. With Paysinger signed and center Jim Cordle non-tendered, the Giants don’t have any more restricted free agent housekeeping to deal with this offseason.
