PFT Live: Oakland continues to operate in ‘typical Raiders fashion’

CSN Bay Area’s Scott Bair joins Mike Florio to discuss the abundance of moves the Oakland Raiders made during the first week of NFL free agency and also the moves they didn’t make. The Rodger Saffold dilemma was well-publicized and well-document, but when speaking of his opinion on the matter, Bair can only chalk up the saga to Oakland continuing to operate in “typical Raiders fashion.”

lets get this right CSN bay area’s Scott Bair, is not a bay area guy…he is a san diego chargers guy who CSN hired to replace Gutiterrez, when he joined bspn.

We signed the best WR, DE, DT, LB, and OL in free agency.

Now all we need is to sign a QB, TE, CB, and S.

WE are the best! Raider Nation!

I would ave called this a WILD success for McKenzie if he had kept any of Veldheer, Houston, and Jennings, but we lost ALL 3, which is inexcusable in my book. If we were tight on money, I’d understand it, but we have a giant pile of cash that trumps any team in the league. If What I’m hearing is true about the lousy offers made to these guys, then RM made an enormous mistakes (x3) and should be bounced.

I don’t get it, did I miss Jennings, valdheer and Houston become all pro elite players? Did they take us to the playoffs?? I get it, they’re good. But why handcuff mediocre players long term when we could IMPROVE through the draft at a cheaper and younger price. Were still making moves, I feel if Wr wo uldvr kept em all it would’ve limited what moves we were going to make. Huge fan of all 3 of em, but clowney,richardson/Matthews and dmac are better than those 3. IMO

I really wish all these so-called raider fans who do nothing but bash every move RM makes and every move he doesn’t make would shut the f up.

Veldheers brother which is also his agent prevented him from being a Raider again by bringing his emotions into a business negotiation.

Houston have fun elsewhere, you weren’t worth that much money aside from your age anyway. He took off plays and really only ayes the run well. He was far from an elite pass rusher.

Jennings was good but not worth overpaying him to stay.

Every free agent that has been signed has been to a bowl and can make an immediate impact. RM obviously has a strategic approach, and overpaying for older veterans isn’t part of it. To be honest with you I’m all for it! Overpaying highly sought free agents is what got us into this mess!

Listen, until Oakland gets alot better and it shows on the field, ignorant pundits like this will always have something bad to say. We have to get better. It is good for the league when the RAIDERS are are playing good and making noise. I hate to say it, but the same goes for Dallas. We are the teams people love to hate. We are on the bottom right now and the media treats Denver, NE, Seattle, SF like super teams and to a degree they are. We just have to get better to shut them up. I did not like losing Veldheer, but there had to be some reason why they let him walk. I love the fact the we are not making moves like we did in the past. Love the 1-2 yr contracts and we can build through the draft. Let the media keeping blowing hot air about how bad we are going to be. 3 superbowl rings and still standing. Raiders4life.

Last year they said the same about kameron wimbley and the other guys that walked away. None of them lived up to their paycheck. Every single player RM has let go he was scrutinized by both non and raiders fans and so called experts but none of those players have lived up to their hype and paychecks. Ppl are delusional if they think Raiders are gonna be a top tier team 1st year if rebuilding after 2 years of deconstructing. We will build through the draft. FA us just to fill holes. It makes no sense this year to sign big name FAs who will put us in cap hell a lotvof these veteran FAs wer signed for 2-3 years with most money up front so in 2-3 years we have cap space to sign those big FAs to help us get tobthe big game.

Just wait till the draft and 2nd rd of FA are over, we will be a force to be reckoned with this year.

The knock on RM is that he talks about keeping his own, he didn’t follow through…You don’t let two 26yr old guys with potential to be cornerstones walk in favor of guys with a history of injury or are on the other side of 30.

So as a true Raiders fan I remember when the Raiders used to make playoff runs and have winning streaks. So after the last decade and the last two years when I see a wtf move I’m not just going to drink the RM koolaid…we need to see instant results because after multiple blunders and bonehead moved I’m not ready to anoint Reggie the resident genius and savior.

Darren McFadden is only 26 years old, he has had the bad luck, but he is a stud and is still young. As a matter of fact…he is younger than Jennings by some years.

I think DMAC gets comeback player of the year this year.

Regarding the offseason so far…5 star job for RM. Who said know one wants to wear the Silver and Black. People are lining up for a chance to wear the uniforms of the “Team of the Decades”

Here’s another famous quote from Al Davis…

“If everyone is thinking the same, then nobody is thinking ”

    Late…
