Report: Ravens offer contract to Ed Dickson

The Ravens got a jump on free agency by re-signing tight end Dennis Pitta to a long-term deal and they have designs on holding onto their other veteran free agent tight end as well.

Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports that the team has made a contract offer to tight end Ed Dickson. Per Wilson, Dickson has also drawn interest from teams including the Jaguars, Jets, Giants and Bills and, as a result, has not accepted the offer from Baltimore.

Dickson’s 2013 season wasn’t the strongest argument for a sizable payday. Dickson had 25 catches for 273 yards and a touchdown despite making 14 starts while Pitta was making his way back from a hip injury. It was the second straight down season for Dickson, who had 21 catches in 2012 after setting a career high with 54 catches during the 2011 season.

Matt Furstenberg is the only tight end other than Pitta currently under contract in Baltimore, so the Ravens could be in the market for additional help at the position even if Dickson winds up returning for a fifth season with the team.
