The Texans have added a defensive lineman who’s worked with new defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel.

Nose tackle Jerrell Powe, who played his first three NFL seasons with the Chiefs, has signed with the Texans. The transaction was disclosed by the NFL and announced by the Texans on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old Powe was a sixth-round pick of Kansas City in 2011. He has appeared in 12 regular season games in three seasons. The Chiefs did not tender him as a restricted free agent.

Crennel was the Chiefs’ defensive coordinator when Powe was drafted. In Houston, the 6-foot-2, 331-pound Powe would seem likely to compete for playing time in the middle of Houston’s three-player defensive line.

doesn’t matter if he was OK or not, he wasn’t going to take snaps from Poe, who arguably plays more snaps than any DL in the AFC West.

hope he does well with the Texans, but it is true, its not a loss for KC as he spent only a couple games active last year and switching roster spots with chad hall.

Never felt like he got a fair chance in KC. But maybe that’s because there was always someone better ahead of him. Good Luck Powe.
