Eric Ebron will be at the draft, has at least four visits lined up

If you missed Wednesday’s PFT Live, you’re in luck.  You can still see it by clicking the show box on the right side of the page.

Guests included Lions running back Joique Bell and former North Carolina Eric Ebron.  The former has made himself into a high-level NFL running back despite not being drafted.  The latter will be taken in the highest level of the 2014 draft.

Ebron said (after we pried it out of him) that he’ll be at Radio City Music Hall on the evening of May 8, which isn’t very far from his hometown of Newark, New Jersey.

For that reason, he’d love to play for the Giants.  Ebron said everyone in his family roots for the Giants — except his mother, who’s a Cowboys fan.

She may eventually expand her fan base to include the Bills, Lions, Ravens, or Panthers.  Ebron said that he’ll visit all four of those teams in April.

Someone will be getting a great player with an even better attitude in May.  If he’s on the clock when the Giants make their first round pick, they’d be crazy not to give him serious consideration.

His mom is a Cowboys fan. Poor woman.

    Welcome to Buffalo!

Panthers better trade up if they want him. No way is he sliding down that far.

Watching single game film of him; extremely athletic and a great receiver. But god is he an awful run/screen blocker, especially in space. Duke’s defense toyed with him last year

Ebron, Donald and Evans are the three targets Giants fans would love unless a major player drops into their laps. If all somehow gone, can’t go wrong with Lewan or the safer pick of Martin. Gilbert and Dennard have been basically written off by the DRC signing. I’m personally rooting for a trade down: deep draft with big time WRs/OL and pass rushers which are all huge areas of need.

Sounds great but I think his visit with the Lions was probably lined up before they resigned Pettigrew to another healthy contract and they have 3 TEs already slated to make the roster. I would be awfully surprised if the Lions drafted a TE in any round of this draft. I have all TEs off my board barring something unexpected happening.

And I didn’t feel it was confirmed that he would be at the draft. He was pretty set in his position that he didn’t want to give that info away and he seemed to kind of jokingly agree about being in the green room as only a humorous maybe/hypothetical.

Be careful of what you write, Jerry just might make a contract offer to Ebron’s mother!

Two years, ten million, fully guaranteed.

    The Pats fake injury reports!

  9. rcgolf12 says: Mar 19, 2014 1:34 PM

Giants will not be taking a TE at 12 who can’t block, their line is still a disaster. He is going to be a great player for someone other than the Giants.

  10. Mr. Wright 212 says: Mar 19, 2014 1:37 PM

I love this guy, but he won’t be there at 12. Bills will snag him. Giants need to focus on Benjamin.

    tight end????

  13. djshnooks says: Mar 19, 2014 1:40 PM

I really hope he is a Gates or Davis or Graham or Gronk…not a Dustin Keller.

Still think I rather have Buffalo go after a WR in round 1 and Austin Seferian-Jenkins in round 2, if he’s there. My dream draft…

    – 1 of Ebron or Seferian-Jenkins…
    – 1 of Mike Evans or Kelvin Benjamin…

Anything else is extra after that…but do whatever it takes to get this done for EJ.

He iwll be there at 12 but i am not convinced he is the Giants pick until he completes a full backround check.

I could see Giants going Aaron Donald, Troy Niklas route in rounds 1,2.

If Mike Evans is available at 12, he would be tempting too.

Zach Martin is a safe, solid fall back option to help bolster the line with quality depth.

  16. corkspop says: Mar 19, 2014 1:46 PM

Panthers have a very good tight end. Bills take him at #9.

  17. Mr. Wright 212 says: Mar 19, 2014 1:47 PM

Don’t need Donald. Need a big target for Eli.

  18. mikefromsaskatchewan says: Mar 19, 2014 1:50 PM

Giants need to trade up and get Khalil Mack.. .. a guy can dream, right?

  19. ninetysixer says: Mar 19, 2014 1:54 PM

Torrey Smith, Dennis Pitta, Eric Ebron, Steve Smith and Jacoby Jones would be a rotation that creates matchup nightmares.

  20. ghost26 says: Mar 19, 2014 1:56 PM

This kid is going to be a stud right away in the NFL. The Giants are a very conservative organization for the most part & I can see them taking an O-lineman or a D-lineman before they would take a TE. However, the Giants did sign DRC this FA so maybe Reese is changing it up.

All I know is that IF the Patriots, Bill, or Jets get this kid I won’t be happy.

  21. cmb79 says: Mar 19, 2014 1:57 PM

This just screams smokescreen if teams are being vocal about him already.

  22. rcgolf12 says: Mar 19, 2014 2:09 PM

Draft needs to be in April. Goodell needs to be let go for screwing the schedule up.

  23. justafan2014 says: Mar 19, 2014 2:11 PM

    top 15….. right…

  24. ghost26 says: Mar 19, 2014 2:15 PM

For some reason I see the Patriots taking him & I believe Brady will make him a superstar.

  25. ninetysixer says: Mar 19, 2014 2:18 PM

unless that pats trade up there is no way he is still available

  26. mhohmann says: Mar 19, 2014 2:27 PM

Giants could use him but they need a LT or DE more. Giants at 12 and they get a TE later in the draft.

  27. Billsweregreatonce says: Mar 19, 2014 2:35 PM

And with 9th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bill select…..

  28. pilot2011 says: Mar 19, 2014 2:54 PM

He and Greg Olsen would be a 2 tight end set nightmare.

Now if the Panthers could get a wide out or 2 worth a damn, they might be onto something.

  29. puppybowler says: Mar 19, 2014 4:05 PM

As a Giants fan, how do you not select this kid? You need a big target, you’re new OC is a former TE coach and he fills a need you didn’t address in free agency. Also, to those saying that the Giants won’t take a non-blocking TE, look to Dallas were long time TE coach Mike Pope went. McAdoo might have a totally different way of seeing the position. Also the Giants think that Beatty just had a bad year. NO CHANCE they take an OL in the 1st round again. Only 2 in the last 20yrs

  30. tramonisland says: Mar 19, 2014 4:15 PM

The only offensive player Teddy will take at 21 if he slips that far.

  31. baller2189 says: Mar 19, 2014 5:07 PM

I hope the jets trade up and get him

  32. kev86 says: Mar 19, 2014 9:24 PM

Understandable that he wants to play for NYG. His favorite team is a powerhouse that looks unproven at TE right now. Would be his ultimate dream. I’m not convinced Giants are high on him at 12. They could trade up or down with the way Jerry is going this off season. Reese has been getting after it.

  33. thebirdsareback says: Mar 21, 2014 7:27 AM

Marlon Brown was an undrafted Rookie Free agent and was way more productive then jacoby jones. To not include him in the list ninteysixer is blasphemous! but i agree. Adding ebron would be crazy. I think HAHA is going to bmore before pitt can get him. Thats my take on the first round for baltimore. 2nd round, travis swanson

  34. billco6192013 says: Mar 22, 2014 1:06 AM

    Giants take Taylor lewen

  35. billco6192013 says: Mar 22, 2014 2:30 PM

Atlanta brings in Anthony barr so that tells me they will pass on lewen.
