Report: Charles Woodson agrees to terms with Raiders

Charles Woodson and the Oakland Raiders enjoyed their return engagement so much in 2013 that they’ve elected to re-up for another season.

According to Josina Anderson of, Woodson and the Raiders have agreed to terms on a one-year deal to keep the versatile defensive back in the Bay Area.

Woodson re-signed with Oakland last year after seven seasons with the Green Bay Packers. Woodson started all 16 games for Oakland and compiled 97 tackles, three forced fumbles, two sacks and an interception.

Woodson said he would consider retirement if he couldn’t find a deal that was to his liking in free agency. Instead, he’ll get the chance to continue his career with the franchise that drafted him in 1998.

Charles Woodson was a great player, and I am grateful to him for helping my Packers win an unprecedented 13th World Championship in 2010.

Sadly, he’s now well past his sell-by date. Charles, don’t be a Favre.

I like it. He played well last year and he provides veteran leadership not just for the defensive backs, but for the entire defense.

A necessary signing. They needed a leader that is older than all the other 30+ yr old defenders.

….class act….wish he still played for the packers….good luck, wood……

He got beat last year, but was still better than any corner San Diego put on the field. And since he was playing safety, that matters.

He’s still got plenty tread left on the tires, he’s smarter than any of our QBs unfortunately and brings a ton to the table aside from being the best raiders draft since I’ve been alive
