The Lions opened the offseason by releasing safety Louis Delmas, and it looks like they’re ready to replace him.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, former Falcons safety Thomas DeCoud is visiting the Lions today.

It wasn’t that long ago that DeCoud was a Pro Bowler (2012), but he struggled last year, and left the Falcons looking for a replacement as they retool their defense. The $4.2 million salary that would have become guaranteed made it an easy call.

The 29-year-old safety is still a serviceable player, and could help the Lions fill in the blank.

He could team back up with Chris Houston. Both of which are average at best.

Vikings should call him. We still need a veteran safety to help Smith learn the game, not for 4.2/year though….

I say sign him & still go after a safety in the 2nd rd of the draft you never know he may return to his 2012 form

I figured when Atlanta released him we would sign a FS, currently we have 3 SSs and 0 FSs. Decoud is a bit of an enigma to me, he’s rarely impressive but when he is his ceiling is outstanding. Great move for the right price.

Trade Houston and Fairley and a pick to Oakland for their first and go sign Jared Allen, draft a WR and CB in the first round!

I wish the Chiefs would give him a look. Anythings better than K. Lewis.

Decoud is hideously awful. Can’t play the ball in the air, can’t tackle, doesn’t take responsibility for it afterwards. Other than that he’s solid.

Well excuse me if I’m being facetious here, but I would love to see him and Ihedigbo come here. That would be nice. This Lions off-season has been one to remember man.. Go Lions..!
