Giants sign John Jerry

John Jerry AP

A player regularly mentioned in the NFL’s Wells Report has found new employment.

The Giants have signed Dolphins offensive guard John Jerry, the club said Friday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 27-year-old Jerry has started 45 games in four NFL seasons, all with Miami. He’ll compete for a roster spot with the Giants, who have reworked their interior offensive line.

The Wells Report, an NFL-commissioned report that studied the Dolphins’ workplace environment after Jonathan Martin left the club last season, alleged that Jerry, guard Richie Incognito and center Mike Pounceyengaged in a pattern of harassment” of multiple Dolphins personnel, including Martin.

Jerry hasn’t publicly responded to the allegations.

There has been no word from the NFL on any potential discipline regarding the allegations in the Wells report.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media has reported that Incognito will have to meet a series of conditions to return to the league, including an examination by doctors.

Why would anybody sign this guy? Based on the report it sounds like he was as much a part of the problem as Incognito.

the word is that jerry was much worse than richie when it came to racism amongst the other employees and treating martin unfairly, yet he is playing again, and richie is a better player!!!

    richie has been blackballed.

    “John Kerry”

I hate when I realize the giants aren’t always above it all, it’s disappointing.

Good luck with that below average player with horrible work ethic.

  15. ErikW65 says: Mar 21, 2014 4:42 PM

Oh NO! An evil, mean, bully of a man on my favorite football team! How can I root for them now? Lol.

    Great move Mr. Reese.

At first glance I thought it said the Giants signed our feckless Secretary of State, who continues to pretend ‘climate change’ is the world’s greatest threat.

  17. Buick McKaine says: Mar 21, 2014 4:42 PM

This signing, and playing the Raiders 16 times, would assure the Giants a perfect season.

  18. dlw492 says: Mar 21, 2014 4:42 PM

This guy is a bum, came into my job all the time. Lazy person, even lazier player.

  19. chapmanb2014 says: Mar 21, 2014 4:45 PM

They would have been better served signing Incognito……Richie may have a big mouth but Jerry is out of shape and lazy every single year. The guy could have been very good but he doesn’t want it bad enough

  20. andreboy1 says: Mar 21, 2014 4:46 PM

    This guy stinks

  21. cadan24 says: Mar 21, 2014 4:47 PM

  22. dieselguy19 says: Mar 21, 2014 4:52 PM

So glas this guy is not a Dolphin anymore. He’s outa shape, unmotivated, and sux. Sorry for you Giants fans.

  23. stonedolphin89 says: Mar 21, 2014 4:54 PM

As a Dolphins fan, I hope he’s only competing for a spot. This guy is nothing special and far from mediocre. He takes plays off and doesn’t work hard in practice or in the weight room. You could do better, giants fans.

  24. tillihawk says: Mar 21, 2014 4:54 PM

    Jerry Jones?

  25. drgreenstreak says: Mar 21, 2014 4:57 PM

Roger Goodell had best put it in gear.

He has to address these issues in a more expedient manner as they are beginning to pile-up at the door.

Get rid of the problem by suspending and fining the offenders now and making conditions for future, stupid behavior.

C’mon man! You have the Irsay issue to deal with.

  26. zam0854 says: Mar 21, 2014 4:58 PM

Until they sign Jesus, this is still smells to me.

  27. ErikW65 says: Mar 21, 2014 5:05 PM

Whaddya mean “typical”? Oh, I suppose you’re buying in to the idea that the Dolphins locker room was so much worse than the average NFL team’s? This move by the NYG shows that is all just spin.

    Hello, Jerry.

  35. phinfan4everct says: Mar 21, 2014 5:27 PM

    Totaling agree with you dieselguy19.
John Jerry and Jonathan Martin were statically were closer to the bottom of their position.

Martin abandon his team not once but twice.

He never cared about anything but himself.

He never went to the coach to complan.

He never really cared about protecting Ryan Tannelhill blind side.

    He tarnished Richie Inognito likelihood.

Time to move on from the Media Circus that Jonathan Martin caused cause he was a 315 pound puss.

  38. dbo2020 says: Mar 21, 2014 5:31 PM

This guy’s not even good. Imagine any other work environment where you’re BOTH lousy at your job and you treat co-workers like crap…

  39. degmen says: Mar 21, 2014 5:36 PM

It says he will “compete” for a job, not being brought in to be slotted as a starter. You idiots take anything and run with it. If he isn’t good enough he’ll sit the bench or get cut.

  40. kingcarlbanks says: Mar 21, 2014 5:44 PM

Morons. You act like this guy is penciled in as a starter. He’s insurance, nothing more. If you really don’t have an intelligent comment about the signing, do us all a favor and refrain from sharing. Tom Coughlin won’t allow this guy to act out like the weak regime in Miami. Congrats to the newly minted Seahawk fans who decided to come out of the woodwork. You finally joined the club. Now win 3 more.. Kiss the Ring(s).

  41. bigdaddystyle says: Mar 21, 2014 5:48 PM

They’ll cut his ass if he’s lazy.

  42. bigblu73 says: Mar 21, 2014 5:50 PM

First of all, we got him on the cheap! 2nd of all he knows that coming off of the Wells investigation he is “damaged goods” and will certainly toe the line in NY. 3rd of all, we only got him for much needed Offensive line depth, not counting on him to be a starter. 4th of all, this is BIG BLUE we are a rock solid franchise that can definitely handle a personality like that!!! 5th of all, if he doesn’t produce we’ll drop him like a hot potato!!!

  43. petehemlock says: Mar 21, 2014 5:51 PM

Reese’s last year as Giants GM.

    23 comments for this signing?

  45. degmen says: Mar 21, 2014 6:06 PM

And it’s only 25k guaranteed so no real risk in this signing

  46. justbust says: Mar 21, 2014 6:06 PM

Hard knocks was hilarious when turner would scream at jerry, classic moments.

  47. akboot says: Mar 21, 2014 6:07 PM

This is unreal. Martin has managed to shake up the whole NFL by crying like a baby cuz he was picked on. Whoda thunk it. Too funny.

  48. IamtheBucsFan says: Mar 21, 2014 6:08 PM

He said the N word? OMG! End his career.

  49. arwiv says: Mar 21, 2014 6:13 PM

This guy was starting for the dolphins….he’ll be a back-up for the Giants unless Snee cant play. You guys making fun of the move obviously didn’t see the shambles that the Giants interior o-line was last year.

  50. iamkillerfin says: Mar 21, 2014 6:42 PM

GOOD LUCK, Manning is gonna need it!!!

  51. osufan2383 says: Mar 21, 2014 7:11 PM

It amazes me how people get on a team like the Giants for this signing. Yet many football fans gave a murderer like Vick the okay to play football. Also, before you say he killed animals and not humans and there is a difference. I understand that. But, to me it is more cowardly to kill Dogs, because most of them can not defend themselves against being strapped up in a tree and shot. This guy was a bully fine, but also Jonathan Martin was not a saint in the locker room either. Also remember the Giants also took a chance on Ahmad Bradshaw and he turned out to be a good guy.

  52. somethinghappeninghere says: Mar 21, 2014 7:15 PM

He stinks as a starting guard and has since he landed in Miami. I cannot believe the team that kept the Pats from going undefeated in Super Bowl 42 has signed this crappy player, Wells report or no Wells report.

  53. weaponx73 says: Mar 21, 2014 7:22 PM

Kiss the ring is usually more effective if you have more than the people you’re insulting. Not so effective if they have three more than you do.

  54. phillyphinsfan says: Mar 21, 2014 7:59 PM

John Jerry is lazy and takes no pride it what he does for a living. The Giants players will quickly realize that this guy doesn’t care about what it takes to be a winner.

  55. droopyyydog1 says: Mar 21, 2014 8:17 PM

In recent news, the Giants have also agreed to terms with Jim Turner to become their new O-line coach and are in talks with Richie Incognito to come in and be a team leader. In related news, the Giants are considering drafting Michael Sam in the first round. Giants are said to be developing a friendly locker room environment with positive leadership and camaraderie to help support Sam.

  58. Ferdinand says: Mar 21, 2014 9:10 PM

I don’t think anyone really expected there to be much of any thing done beyond the League sending all the teams a memo telling them to get their act together because that is the usual way the League deals with things.

But the fact that they have let these guys be traded/signed to new teams without issuing suspensions/fines/any other discipline ahead of free agency, when the suitors really need to know that stuff when considering signing a guy, just confirms that there will be no punishment of note.

  59. igotgamenj says: Mar 21, 2014 9:39 PM

This guy stinks all he does is want to eat… watch Hard Knocks you’ ll get the point
