The Texans have added another Chiefs veteran to their defense.

The club has signed free safety Kendrick Lewis to a one-year contract, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reported on Friday.

Via his verified Twitter account, Lewis indicated he was joining Houston.

Lewis, 25, has made 50 starts in four NFL seasons, intercepting seven passes in that span. In Houston, he’ll play for defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel, who served in the same role and as head coach in Lewis’ first three seasons in Kansas City.

Lewis joins D.J. Swearinger, Shiloh Keo and Danieal Manning on the Texans’ depth chart at safety.

Lewis’ signing comes three days after the Texans signed Chiefs nose tackle Jerrell Powe.
