Shortly after Mark Sanchez was released by the New York Jets, he was already being connected with the Philadelphia Eagles as a potential landing spot.

That possibility appears to be close to becoming reality.

According to Brian Costello of the New York Post, Sanchez is in Philadelphia for a meeting with the Eagles.

The Eagles are expected to take a closer look at Sanchez’s injured shoulder. The former Jets starter suffered the injury in a preseason game against the New York Giants last August and did not play last season.

According to multiple reports, the Eagles will sign Sanchez if his shoulder checks out to their satisfaction.

Sanchez helped guide the Jets to the AFC Championship game in both 2009 and 2010. However, he had a disastrous final season as Jets starter in 2012. Sanchez completed just 54 percent of his passes for 2,883 yards with 13 touchdowns, 18 interceptions and a particularly memorable fumble.

Sanchez will likely compete with fellow former USC quarterback Matt Barkley for the backup role in Philadelphia behind Nick Foles.
