Chris Culliver arrested for hit and run, possessing brass knuckles

San Francisco 49ers cornerback Chris Culliver was arrested today and charged with two felonies, one for a hit and run and one for possessing brass knuckles.

KTVU reports that a car driven by Culliver hit a person riding a bicycle and fled. A witness followed Culliver’s Mustang, blocked it in and called police. Culliver allegedly got out of his car, threatened the witness with brass knuckles and then got back in his car and tried to flee, hitting the witness’s car in the process. Police arrived and arrested Culliver. The bicyclist was treated for minor injuries.

Culliver faces charges of felony hit and run and reckless driving causing an injury for hitting the bicyclist and misdemeanor hit and run for hitting the vehicle. He also faces a charge of felony possession of brass knuckles.

The 49ers have released the standard statement teams release when a player gets arrested.

“The 49ers organization is aware of the recent matter involving Chris Culliver,” the statement said. “We will remain in contact with Chris and the local authorities as we continue to gather the facts regarding this situation. As this is an ongoing legal matter, we will reserve further comment at this time.”

Culliver is best known for making anti-gay comments during a media event before last year’s Super Bowl. He later apologized.

The 25-year-old Culliver missed the entire 2013 season with a knee injury.

This guy is a problem and they got rid Carlos Rogers and Tarell Brown for him. Questionable moves by the 49ers. Time to cut this guy and replace him with a vet like Jabari Greer or Asante Samuel and draft a corner in the high rounds. Nobody needs a guy like this on there team.

49ers are heading for a collapse. Tried to trade their coach. Kaep was figured out to an extent. Harbaugh’s act is starting to wear on the team and management.

Their window won’t be open forever. Their defense wasn’t nearly as good this past season as it was the year before. It will be interesting to see how they respond. I could see them going 9-7 next year and missing the playoffs.

Cully is a mental midget. The 49ers should cut him. He stunk it up in the Super Bowl vs. Anquan Boldin and the Ravens, last year.

  39. snoqualmkanem says: Mar 28, 2014 8:32 PM

They’ll need to wait before they can take any action.
If they don’t the NFL will likely impose a penalty of some type.
This is serious enough that I hope it doesn’t get swept under the carpet.

  40. bricktop02 says: Mar 28, 2014 8:33 PM

I guess brass knuckles are better than two cans of soda and a pillow case.

  44. isphet71 says: Mar 28, 2014 8:40 PM

Dude needs to go to prison if he ran over someone on their bike then took off. That’s really weak.

It’s unfortunate, but only a slap on the wrist relatively if you hit someone on a bike and just face the music. But running away afterwards?

  45. southpaw79 says: Mar 28, 2014 8:41 PM

He should be cut if this is true.
Funny seeing Seahawks fans in here since they do not seem to have a problem with Marshawn Lynch and his hit and run.

  46. myworldurjuslivinit says: Mar 28, 2014 8:41 PM

“The 25-year-old Culliver missed the entire 2013 season with a knee injury.”…

    He’s not very smart.

  48. aceakking says: Mar 28, 2014 8:48 PM

  53. dillpx183 says: Mar 28, 2014 8:55 PM

The NFL really has to start cracking down hard on their players and holding them accountable. I know the NFL has more players but you just don’t see this constant level of stupidity with the other major sports. It has to be a league embarrassment to have a player arrested every other day from everything from hit and runs to murders and dog fighting. Start banning people for life, get the trash out of the league.

  58. thegreatgabbert says: Mar 28, 2014 9:00 PM

Culliver scored 9 on the Wonderlic test. He was THAT close to double digits.

  59. shayeezy says: Mar 28, 2014 9:06 PM

every time i watched the 9ers, this guy was getting burnt.

  60. snoqualmkanem says: Mar 28, 2014 9:07 PM

Marshawn was not a member of the Seahawks during that hit and run incident. (He was a Buffalo Bill) so no real reason for Seattle fans not to speak out against a niner player.

So not sure why you would expect Seahawk fans not to comment.

Just because they are the rivals?

Marshawn did have a DWI in Oakland a few years back and that case has been settled.

  61. russellwilsonismymvp says: Mar 28, 2014 9:10 PM

I guarantee that the cowardly Jim Harbaugh won’t cut him. Watch.

  64. motsuret06 says: Mar 28, 2014 9:29 PM

That sound you hear will soon be the cutting of Chris Culliver

  65. shirkophobe says: Mar 28, 2014 9:29 PM

BTW, Marshawn’s hit and run occurred years ago while he was still a Bill. His DUI is still up in the air, I believe. We’ll see. Meanwhile, # GOHAWKS

  66. shaggytoodle says: Mar 28, 2014 9:58 PM

I wonder if he will get the Aldon Smith treatment, or the treatment where since he is expendable he is just All Done.

  67. whatjusthapped says: Mar 28, 2014 10:03 PM

Felony for the brass knuckles is in the same neighborhood as carrying an illegal firearm.

My guess is Goodell will come down hard with a year’s suspension.

  68. alewatcher says: Mar 28, 2014 10:26 PM

That sound you heard was Culliver’s career going down the toilet.

  75. rukkus1 says: Mar 29, 2014 7:00 AM

How the league hasn’t started banning people left and right is beyond me. If I caught a felony I’d be out of a job and would never have a decent one afterwards…. yet the nfl has multiple felons on every team.

  76. daubs17 says: Mar 29, 2014 9:51 AM

funny because if this was you or me, we’d be charged with multiple felonies and be sent to prison. Guarantee Culliver doesnt serve a day, pays a fine gets probation and will be on the firld Week 1.

Those were popular about the last time the Niners won a SB.
