Patriots keep center Ryan Wendell for two more years

For a guy who started every game the last two years for a good team, Ryan Wendell didn’t draw much of a market.

Now, he’s got a deal and a he doesn’t have to move.

According to Field Yates of, the Patriots have signed Wendell to a two-year deal with a maximum of $6.85 million.

Wendell played poorly last year, but had otherwise looked like a solid piece of a good line previously. Now, he’ll get a chance to reclaim a reputation.

I was hoping he wouldn’t return. I hope he doesn’t survive final cut down.

that is WAY too much money for an undersized Center who played like crap last year. Id rather have Connely at Center and put Cannon at RG.

I expect Pats taking a center and a guard in the draft, if they can develop quickly Wendell will be a backup and wont earn all the money in his contract (playing time incentives)… at least is a good sign for depth, but they overpaid a little.

OMG….Didn’t the Patriots get the hint when no ONE else wanted him ? One of the worse centers in the NFL.

    Draft Su’a Filo from UCLA.

This guy is so overmatched in the NFL.

This is the weakest piece of the Pats.

I know Brady likes (or at least liked him) but he turned out 18 games of solid crap last year. I don’t get this and it still doesn’t lessen the need to draft interior line talent.

I very much expect the patriots to draft a power guard early. And I am sure wendells guaranteed money is pretty low.

And the Packers just signed jeff Saturday. ….wow

They’ll grab a center somewhere in the draft and probably develop him behind Wendell until he’s ready to be replaced

    @igotgamenj ,

What makes you think the Pats won’t draft a good replacement for Brady in the meantime ? You somehow seem to be assuming the best coach in football won’t be prepared for Brady’s retirement.

Best coach in football….hahahaha. You think good qbs grow on trees but cheating does help them a lot.

  16. therooneyskilledwebster says: Mar 28, 2014 7:55 PM

Or they could purposely tank games in an attempt to replace their QB like the drug addict-owned Mayflower Movers. Now that is honorable!

  17. dudermcrbohan says: Mar 28, 2014 8:53 PM

he played like garbage and he looks like a diddler. what more do you need to know?

  18. tmdill18 says: Mar 29, 2014 9:48 AM

That’s rich. A NE fan accusing another team of cheating. And also ridiculing the owner. Colts fans would take Irsay any day over that generic fool of an owner in NE. First, his team is a well known cheater. And what kind of person generates sympathy for themselves after losing a wife – and then shows up drunk in a club with a 30 yr old on his arm. Don’t care how rich he is – the guy is a ridiculous old fool
