DeSean Jackson’s first visit scheduled for Washington

DeSean Jackson, DeAngelo Hall AP

Free agent wide receiver DeSean Jackson may not be leaving the NFC East.

Jackson, released by Philadelphia on Friday, will visit Washington on Monday, according to Dianna Marie Russini of NBC Washington.

New Washington coach Jay Gruden would surely love to add Jackson to his offense. Pierre Garcon had a very good season last year, catching 113 passes for 1,346 yards, and putting Jackson on the field with Garcon would give Robert Griffin III a couple of big-play targets. Jackson could also provide an upgrade to Washington’s special teams as a punt returner.

Other teams that have been linked to Jackson include the Jets, Raiders and Seahawks. We’ll see on Monday if Dan Snyder is ready to write a check big enough to make Jackson’s first free agent visit his last.

With a deep receiver pool in this year’s draft I’d take a flyer on this guy. No pun intended.

  2. grimreaper12 says: Mar 29, 2014 7:21 PM

He should cancel that visit, and just hurry up to New England. Playing with Brady is any receivers dream.

Why would DJax visit that dumpster fire of a franchise in Washington DC? Talk about rock bottom.

I don’t see him signing in DC. Not sure rg knee would bs able to handle Djax attitude. But if he does sign that’ll be a big waste of money bc that defense is like Swiss cheese.

Of course dumbo Danny boy, loves the names he recognizes just like haynesworth. Which is why the skins suck

  9. skins4life2009 says: Mar 29, 2014 7:27 PM

Garcon on one side, Jackson on the other and t hen a healthy Reed and Moss and Roberts on the inside would be one of the best receiving cores in the game. Would really help Griffin out with another number 1 receiver. Oh and we have seen how well Griffin can throw those long balls.

If Jackson signs with Washington, his rumored stupidity will then be confirmed for the nation to see.

If he smart, he goes to a team that has a QB, can make the playoffs, and needs a WR.

p.s.- Hernandez was cut before he was charged so it does not count and he never played for us

  23. omnipresentfan says: Mar 29, 2014 7:45 PM

It’s over. He is a redskin. With him and pierre garcon, Eagles will be hit where it hurts at least twice a year.

Kelly’s too arrogant imo. Reid acted like a father figure unlike Kelly. I think he’ll blow up in his face. Kick your biggest play maker on the street. Mcnabb couldn’t do it but DJax will make the eagles realize how big of a mistake they made.

  24. emaney477 says: Mar 29, 2014 7:46 PM

Grim reaper is a clown. The patriots staff are jerks and CHEAP! They say “come play the patriot way” as a sales pitch to try and underpay players. They act like they are the ultimate winners, yet they haven’t won a ring in 10 years. And let’s not act like they are a historical franchise. They were a joke of a franchise until 2001. And I’m tired of hearing what a class act Kraft is. If he was such a class act, he would sign all the dirt bags and problem child’s that they sign. Go ahead and sign another bad guy kraft. And then when you get another Hernandez situation, you guys can act like your surprised again. If Kraft was a real class act, then he would have some standards about the guys he signs.

The Redskins have been eating the Eagles table scraps for years (Trotter, McNabb) and they always end up choking on them. The Little Man with the Big Wallet will never learn. I’m sure that Snyder will circumvent the salary cap again to make room for Jackson.

Seahawks may be showing interest, but I doubt Jackson is seriously considering Seattle. They won’t offer him nearly as much money as the ‘skins, plus they’ll likely push a “prove it” contract.

I expect Jackson to be going to the highest bidder, because unlike Jared, he didn’t say he wants to go to a contender…which is just code for saying “contending teams should also pay top dollar” or whatever.

Jacobs, I agree! You are correct to an extent. But look at the pats track record, they have more if a history if signing players that have had either legal trouble or locker room trouble. And they get them at a bargain rate, which is why they do it. So, you are right, every team has bad guys, but the pats, sign the worst, the most, and then try to spew that they are a classy organization. A lot team that sign bad guys don’t preach about how classy they. But the pats do. You can be both an angel and a demon. You can only be one or the other.

Really ? Because he went from a nobody playing with lousy QBs in Miami making lousy money when Belichick rescued him to the only receiver in NFL history to have 5 x 100 catch seasons, not to mention making something around 30 million while he was in New England.

But hey, what do the facts have to do with anything, right ?

  49. strokinmyego says: Mar 29, 2014 8:15 PM

    “It wasn’t Wes Welkers.”

Welker and Brady and still good friends, it’s Belichick that hates his guts. His seasons with the Patriots will always be the best of his career. His time is coming to an end in Denver regardless. Sanders wasn’t added to replace Decker, he’s a slot guy signed as Welkers replacement.

Jackson going to the Skins will work out as well as the last high profile former Eagle they added. I’m sure Redskins fans remember the low throw Mcblow era fondly.

Get the facts straight. Philly sells out every game. The only reason the r-words sellout is because half the stadium is filled with the other teams fans. That’s a fact. Especially against the NFC east teams. Eagles fans own that stadium. And speaking of dusty trophy cases. Those SB trophies are getting dust on them too. Skins are an after thought every year.

Pittsburgh, Dallas and New England fans stand down and watch your worst nightmares come true. First visits have most often been the lasting visits.

You just can’t stomach the fact that the Redskins just might win another division title and possibly a conference title with a quality receiver addition that you wish you could get.

If we are in a position to get him you all will have to find another way to continue with your insults. Well you can say what you will about Dan Snyder and RGIII, but if he lands in Washington, you will havr to call him make you PEE because that’s how scary the offense with RGIII, Alfred M., Pierre G., D. Jackson, J. Reed and Aldrick Robinson in the slot will be.

Get your minds right to receive this butt kicking and it is both personal and business! This guy hasn’t committed any crimes and the last time I checked, all players are trying to get the max with guarantees so why should he be any different?

All of your sorry teams wish that they had another 1300 yards and 9 touchdowns last tear and the potential of it for another 5 years to come.

If Jerry Jones had the money, he’d be all over this and you know it.

Yeah, he did learn something, hence Shannahan being fired last season!!! Haynesworth wasn’t the problem it was Shannahan!!! Haynesworth was a top defensive tackle for the Titans and Shannahan wanted him to play Nose Tackle! Shannahan is a notorious dictator and felt that because Haynesworth was getting paid a kings ransom he’d be willing to be played out of position. There’s no such thing as a 6’6″ Nose Tackle!!! Haynesworth new that playing out of position would not only be detrimental to his effectiveness but also his physical health!!! Now if Gruden intends to use DJax as a Tight End, then you’re right! If the GM is smart he should not let DJax leave without signing a contract.
