The Eagles have added some veteran offensive line depth.

The club announced the signing of Texans offensive tackle Andrew Gardner on Monday. Gardner (6-6, 308) appeared in three games for Houston in 2013 and was listed as the club’s top backup right tackle.

A sixth-round pick of the Dolphins in 2009, Gardner has played in eight NFL regular season games. In addition to his time with Houston and Miami, Gardner has had stints with Baltimore, Minnesota and Cincinnati.

Gardner, who turns 28 on Friday, played collegiately at Georgia Tech.

The Texans have been very good to the Eagles. Maybe Evan Mathis is on his way out the door too.

They needed some depth. That’s a solid back-up signing.

Eagles have tons of depth. The problem is their depth is starting, especially on the defense. Go get some real players on def or else they end up out of the playoffs or one and done again. Hilarious.

if he can’t block, he won’t make the team. a guy drafted in 2009 with 8 career games can’t demand terms…. this changes nothing and they can pursue whatever defensive talent they like without regard to this signing.

He is added to the 90 man roster good fodder if he started a few games and maybe he fits the system.
