Giants continue secondary overhaul with Zack Bowman

Jordy Nelson, Zack Bowman AP

The Giants added some more experience to their secondary Monday, continuing an offseason emphasis.

According to Adam Caplan of ESPN, the Giants agreed to a one-year deal with cornerback Zack Bowman.

The former Bears corner started seven games last year.

By bringing in Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Walter Thurmond and Quintin Demps, the Giants will have a new look in the back.

Any Bears have anything to say about him? Decent back? Scrub? Etc

It isn’t going to matter when Eli throws INT after INT after INT….

Packer fans will miss him – if that tells you anything.

A roster filled with cornerbacks, but no center. Amazing!

good backup, he did alright taking tillman’s spot after he went down even though opponents were targeting him hard to avoid Jennings

Pretty sure this pickup is about special teams. If he is ever starting at corner, something has gone terribly wrong…

Good luck passing on our 2-1-8 defense! :/

Bowman has had a knack for coming up with turnovers in the past. He’s no shutdown corner, but pretty serviceable as a backup. Pretty solid on special teams, which is probably where he’ll earn his paycheck with the Giants.

Bowman was a good DB for da Bears, a high quality back-up. Went to Nebraska just like the Prince.

Yep, he’s a great special teamer, and can occasionally turn in a big play…as with any corner, though, much of what he can or cannot do will depend on what kind of pressure your d-line is generating.

As a full-time starting CB, he’s mediocre at best. You definitely don’t want to see him out there on day one.

If you’ve got your two starting CBs squared away (as the Bears do w/ Pro Bowlers Tillman & Jennings, and Kelvin Hayden returning from injury for the nickel), then Bowman would/will provide some above average talent/experience as a depth player.

Great signing. It’s impossible to have too many corners who can play. Giants learned that quick last year when they were left having to start a terribly inexperienced McBride midseason. Ross and Webster, Thanks for the memories but now we have a top 5 secondary.

Any corner that has ball skills and can intercept it will be a welcome addition. There will be plenty of depth in the secondary. They also resigned Mike Patterson to the defensive line.Good job Jerry Reese.

I guess the Draft will be all about OL, DL, TE, WR and maybe a LB or RB
