Report: Giants meet with Robert Ayers

The Giants, who have lost some defensive line depth in free agency, have reportedly taken a look at one of the better linemen still unsigned.

According to NFL writer Howard Balzer of The Sports Xchange and KSDK.com, the Giants hosted Broncos defensive end Robert Ayers on a free agent visit. It’s unclear when the meeting occurred.

The 28-year-old Ayers notched a career-high 5.5 sacks in 15 games (three starts) for the Broncos in 2013. He was a first-round pick of Denver in 2009.

The Giants saw longtime star defensive end Justin Tuck depart in free agency. While not regarded as a top-notch pass rusher, Ayers would at least figure as a rotational player at end.

Strahan retired, Osi’s gone, same with Tuck. Eli isn’t good enough to carry a franchise on his back. 27 int’s last season, I bet Eli breaks the record for most picks in one season.

I think Jerry Reese must have seen the Matrix Reloaded with Keanu Reeves recently. “More, More! MORE!”

Depth on the D line is never a bad thing. Especially the way guys drop like flies on this team.

Foles will lead you to glory, reaperman. *face palm*

We needed Jared Allen, that would have made the d line solid. Allen was unrealistic with his compensation so I guess we settle for Ayers? Hope not!

I love how the Eli haters always want to say how he did not earn those Super Bowls. Or love to point to his interceptions yet never watch a Giants game to see how some of those came about. Its cool tho. Just stop hating on the G-men as they retool and your team goes nowhere. GIANTS ALL DAY!!!

I thought he would be fill a need on Oakland’s line, especially after Lamar Houston walked. Not as a starter, but a decent piece at least.

The Eagles reched the super bowl a few years ago and their QB puked in the huddle in the 4th quarter. Also, every team in their Division have won at least 3 super bowls, and the Eagles haven’t won any. They are the weaklings of their division. The Chargers of the east coast.

Grimreaper. Eli can’t carry a team? I can send you my DVD of the Giants 2011 Championship Season. It tells a different story.

Ayers is a bum, otherwise the donkeys would have kept him for that terrible defense of theirs.

Yeah. That’s why Oakland let Vance Walker move to Cow Town, and that’s why Grandpa Danieal Manning is getting a sniff. 1970 was a long time ago.

Tom Brady carried his team for 19 straight wins, then Jay Alford carried Tom Brady backwards 2 yards thru the air.
I guess that makes Jay Alford one of the strongest men in the nfl.
Has to feel real good some no name dude sacking a quarterback u arent supposed to blitz FOR THE LOSS!
