The Giants, who have lost some defensive line depth in free agency, have reportedly taken a look at one of the better linemen still unsigned.
According to NFL writer Howard Balzer of The Sports Xchange and KSDK.com, the Giants hosted Broncos defensive end Robert Ayers on a free agent visit. It’s unclear when the meeting occurred.
The 28-year-old Ayers notched a career-high 5.5 sacks in 15 games (three starts) for the Broncos in 2013. He was a first-round pick of Denver in 2009.
The Giants saw longtime star defensive end Justin Tuck depart in free agency. While not regarded as a top-notch pass rusher, Ayers would at least figure as a rotational player at end.
