Report: Strahan could co-host Good Morning America

Well, Warren Sapp may have another reason to envy Michael Strahan.

Strahan, who’ll enter the Pro Football Hall of Fame in August, will become a co-host on Good Morning America, according to the New York Daily News.

The deal isn’t signed yet, but Strahan and ABC reportedly are on the verge of finalizing a contract.  It could be announced this week.

He’ll continue to co-host Live with Kelly and Michael.  And the development reportedly is unrelated to the departure of Josh Eliot for NBC.  Instead, the move has been in the works for months.

The move will spark speculation that Strahan will leave FOX NFL Sunday.  It’s our understanding that Strahan will indeed stay with FOX, traveling back and from each weekend from New York to Los Angeles.

Not sure how long Strahan would continue with FOX NFL Sunday given if he joins GMA, as besides the awkward situation of appearing on two different networks (very rare these days, “Live” remember is technically a syndicated show even if it mainly airs on ABC stations) I’m sure Disney would LOVE to have Strahan eventually join ESPN for their massive amount of NFL-related programming (including “Sunday NFL Countdown” and “Monday Night Countdown” in the fall) and even perhaps eventually being in the booth on MNF.

He’s hard working. You’ve got to give him that.

Meanwhile, Warren Sapp is still paying off debt. We all know who the better man was on, and especially off the field.

The position was offered to Strahan after Michael Irvin turned it down

Man, what’s that stink? Oh, it’s the smell of Tiki Barber’s bitter envy.

  10. channer81 says: Apr 1, 2014 9:54 PM

Stay busy and keep working as much as you can. Cause the feeling of not working trumps over working 10 fold.

  11. lennydpocketqb says: Apr 1, 2014 9:55 PM

That Super Bowl ring in a big market just keeps on giving. Where are you now Tiki? Thank you Eli!!!

I was boycotting Today since they let Ann Curry go. Now this!!

  14. djstat says: Apr 1, 2014 10:05 PM

Strahan is making more money then he made playing football. Think Tiki Barber is jealous?

  15. charman11 says: Apr 1, 2014 10:06 PM

He is sorta funny from what I’ve seen of him. Which isn’t a lot but he seems like a nice enough guy. Good for him.

  16. qdog112 says: Apr 1, 2014 10:06 PM

    He needs an orthodontist.

  19. azwildcats96 says: Apr 1, 2014 10:16 PM

So what you’re saying is… Michael Strahan will host TWO shows that no one watches?

  20. andrewluck12 says: Apr 1, 2014 10:18 PM

Gonna be a busy dude. Good for him

  21. hurricanegrabowski says: Apr 1, 2014 10:21 PM

I wonder if Tiki is perplexed and flabbergasted that his former teammate became the media darling, and not him.

  22. kappy32 says: Apr 1, 2014 10:24 PM

Strahan has become the model for success in life after football. It’s absolutely amazing what he has accomplished & continues to accomplish. It was Tiki Barber who thought he would have all this success. Somewhere Tiki is flabbergasted.

  23. herlies says: Apr 1, 2014 10:25 PM

I would enjoy watching him… if I didn’t, you know, actually work for a living.

  24. punksinplay says: Apr 1, 2014 10:27 PM

Tiki Barber is flabbergasted… Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.

  27. djshnooks says: Apr 1, 2014 10:34 PM

He’s perfect for the stuff…my mother speaks of him and his personality ALL. THE. TIME! Lmao. He is a great guy though…perfect hire for GMA.

Best of luck to him, from a fan of the only real team that plays in the state of NY! 😉

  28. donnymacjack says: Apr 1, 2014 10:41 PM

That would be a killer schedule. Flying back and forth coast to coast every week will wear thin in a hurry.

  29. warewookie20 says: Apr 1, 2014 10:48 PM

They can put guests chairs in between his teeth for interviews…

  30. 69finfan says: Apr 1, 2014 10:49 PM

It will be very interesting to see what loud mouth Sapp has to say about this. Can’t wait.

  31. lnfinite says: Apr 1, 2014 10:53 PM

Michael is a class act!! Good luck….

Strachan’s post season career is what Tiki Barber’s was supposed to be. Good for him.

  34. robseahawksfan says: Apr 1, 2014 11:09 PM

He’s becoming the second-hardest-working man in show business.

  35. stevent92 says: Apr 1, 2014 11:09 PM

    Tiki explodes from envy in 5 . . . . . 4 . . . . . 3 . . . .

  36. nygmann says: Apr 2, 2014 12:36 AM

Really? A News Show? I don’t see it. Not sure that is going to work. We shall see.

  37. davikes says: Apr 2, 2014 1:12 AM

His post football career is going to be more lucrative than his football career. Not to many guys can say that – he might be the only one. Congrats.

  38. djscottyb says: Apr 2, 2014 1:12 AM

Sacking TV shows like they were QBs.
    Get that paper Strahan. #doinwork

  39. spfootballfan says: Apr 2, 2014 2:59 AM

That man is a workhorse. Has anyone in TV ever had to do a full morning talk show, a second morning show, and a weekend show, all 3 with different preparations, and one of them on separate coasts from the other two?

  40. ravensterps says: Apr 2, 2014 3:01 AM

My only thought: who in their right mind would want to fly back and forth between NY and LA EVERY WEEK???

  41. packersarethebest says: Apr 2, 2014 8:22 AM

By the time it’s all said and done, MS will have made more $ from his TV career than from football. Craziness. Y’all should check the SNL skit with Jay Pharaoh impersonating MS! Hilarious!!

  42. rajbais says: Apr 2, 2014 8:51 AM

    Lucky guy.

First, he gets to co-host with Kelly ripa and now Lara spencer and, if she comes back from cancer successfully, Amy robach.

I wish beauties were in my line of work.
