Alshon Jeffery: Jadeveon Clowney will dominate the NFL

Getty Images

When Bears receiver Alshon Jeffery was in his final season at South Carolina, Jadeveon Clowney was a freshman. And Clowney made quite an impression on his older teammate.

Jeffery told the South Carolina Gamecocks’ website before Clowney’s Pro Day that Clowney is an elite talent who can do very big things at the next level.

“He knows what he has to do,” Jeffery said. “He’s going to be a great player. He’s going to dominate the league, and he’s going to be a Hall of Famer.”

The question, of course, is why a guy who has the talent to dominate on Sundays didn’t always dominate on Saturdays. The team that drafts Clowney has to hope he plays every day like the future Hall of Famer he has the talent to be.

Kinda premature to say that. But I think he will be an awesome player!

I think the Ole Ball Coach’s comments are to be of higher value than Alshon Jeffery’s.

It’s believable. Several players who were so-so in college play at significantly higher level in the pros.

Since when is Alshon Jeffery, Mel Kiper Jr

  5. beckzhere says: Apr 2, 2014 5:08 PM

After all this non-stop hype, he just better not be a bust.

Jpp has as much if not more talent, but the nfl is hard and injuries happen so there is no such thing as a sure thing

Alshon, when you accomplish something in this league then you will be heard!

3 sacks in his final college season.

No doubt that he’s freak of nature, and bigger/stronger/faster than 99.9% of people out there, but Albert Haynesworth has more heart than this guy.

    Three sacks.

Men lie, women lie, numbers don’t.

Three sacks while being triple teamed.

3 sacks…..and 11 wins every year he played

    Houston, we have a problem.

it might be easier for a pro to be a pro when he’s hired to be a pro.

He’s a student athlete trying to preserve being a top 3 pick. Last season PFT was begging the kid the hold out and not play to preserve his draft position…

How would his motor have looked then???

He’s going to be a bust and a slacker like Haynesworth, who when he gets the big money, all effort will go out the window. He already took a year off, and only had 3 sacks last year. I cant see why people don’t see it. OVERRATED!!!!!

I can’t wait as a rams fan to see him on the other side of robert quinn and maybe with chris long on the field at the same time.

Khalil Mack will be better than Clowney. Clowney’s whole college career was based off of one hit. His stats are average at best. He’s the next Brian Bosworth and won’t be nearly as good as the hype he is getting.

  17. tylerdierking says: Apr 2, 2014 6:32 PM

Brian Bosworth. That’s what Clowney’s career will be like.

  18. kev86 says: Apr 2, 2014 6:34 PM

I’d take him #1 overall. Saints passed on LT for George Rogers and their fans wore paper bags for long time.

Clowney would be a great addition to the Texans line but if any area of their team needs improvement, defensive line is absolutely not the part that needs improving.

What’s tough about this pick for the Texans is that they really need help at QB, but is the future of their team in this draft, and is he worthy of a #1 pick?

If the Texans pick up Clowney it will be awesome for their already stout defensive line, but if they don’t hit the lottery on a QB later in the draft they will be picking high in next year’s draft as well. The QB talent on the Texans is laughable and although Clowney is extremely talented, he is not throwing the rock down the field.

Spurrier also thought Danny Wuerffel could be a NFL starter.

Clowney will be a player that needs to be accounted for and I think on some plays he will dominate while disappearing at times too.

  22. fmc651 says: Apr 2, 2014 10:17 PM

Thanks Alshon, stick to pushing off db’s. Clowney didn’t dominate college. I doubt he will dominate the NFL.

  23. warhammer420 says: Apr 2, 2014 10:18 PM

Either way he’ll probably be #1 pick, since none of the QB’s are first pick material.

  24. pantherfan40 says: Apr 3, 2014 12:00 AM

    Jd clowney is a beast

  25. rationalitybias says: Apr 3, 2014 12:33 AM

Alshon Jeffery dominates the NFL. I was DEAD WRONG about him, and glad he is in Chicago.

  26. staffordsyear says: Apr 3, 2014 1:03 AM

    Yea we shall see.

  27. gsomatt says: Apr 3, 2014 6:13 AM

He’ll be very good. But not at a Julius Peppers (in his prime).

  28. higheriqthanyou says: Apr 3, 2014 9:24 AM

I don’t think anyone questions his talent.

It’s his heart and desire that are the unkowns; especially when he gets bank.
