The Saints have looked to the CFL for safety depth.

The club has reached agreement on a three-year deal with Marcus Ball, who spent the last two seasons with the Toronto Argonauts.

Ball, who was a linebacker in Toronto’s scheme, will be a safety with the Saints. Ball (6-1, 209) played safety at Memphis, where he spent the 2009 and 2010 seasons after transferring from Florida State.

Ball notched 69 tackles and intercepted three passes for the Argonauts in 2013. He turns 27 in July.
