The Texans are giving a member of their 2013 defense a shot to remain with the team for the 2014 season.
John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Texans have re-signed cornerback Elbert Mack.
Mack was with the team in training camp last year, but failed to make the initial 53-man roster. He returned to the team during the season and wound up playing eight games as a reserve and special teamer. Mack also spent four years with the Buccaneers and a year with the Saints before making his way to Houston.
The Texans cut Brice McCain earlier this offseason, leaving Brandon Harris and Mack as the most experienced reserves behind Kareem Jackson and Jonathan Joseph at cornerback. It’s an area the Texans could target for further additions in the draft.
