DeSean Jackson will wear No. 11 with Redskins

Our not-so-long wait to find out what number wide receiver DeSean Jackson will wear with the Redskins has come to an end.

As speculated when wide receiver Aldrick Robinson said he was switching from No. 11 to No. 15 for the coming season, Jackson has been issued No. 11 by the team. The question of what number Jackson would wear became a brief story after Jackson signed in Washington because the wideout said it had not been decided whether he or quarterback Robert Griffin III would wear the No. 10 that they’ve worn throughout their NFL careers.

To no great surprise, the number is staying with Griffin and fans will have to adjust to the sight of Jackson in a different number as well as a different uniform.

Another Redskins quarterback is changing his number, however. Kirk Cousins will move from No. 12 to No. 8, his college number, so that free agent acquisition Andre Roberts can wear the same number he wore with the Cardinals. Roberts is making a $12,000 donation to Cousins’ football camp as part of the switch.

“That way he can get his number, I can get a great number that means a lot to me — and my camp will really benefit,” Cousins said, via the team’s website. “So everbody wins, I think.”

Quarterback Rex Grossman was No. 8 last season, but he is currently a free agent and the addition of Colt McCoy likely means he won’t be back in Washington.

I doubt any of those guys will have to spend much money buying back the previously unsold jerseys…

The only question left is how are they going to fit DeSean’s ego and RG3’s ego in the same stadium?

“Number 11 in your playbooks, and Number 1 in logicals heart, ladies and gentlemen, DeSean Jackson!”

If the Redskins spent as much time studying the playbook as they do playing musical jersey numbers, maybe they wouldn’t be the perpetual laughing stock of the NFL that they are.

Number of days before his first meltdown about his contract.

I dont care what number he wears as long as he does his job. Catch the football and score touchdown. Save all this drama talk for Any given Sunday. But i guess most commentators have forgotten that.

  15. jam11163 says: Apr 3, 2014 5:43 PM

Ok. I guess I’ll take #11. Now how about a new contract???

Same number of compelling stories Florio has written this year.

  31. arwiv says: Apr 3, 2014 7:00 PM

Its going to be great to see the skins implode again this year, as RG3 is not the real deal that everyone thought he was just 3 short years ago. 6-10 this year if that…..they will be lucky to finish ahead to the CFL-wannabe Dallas Cowboys.

Great move eagles! Get rid of a elite talent and add the butt fumbler. Chip Kelly ( the smoothie king) is an idiot.

  39. footballcrazyguy says: Apr 3, 2014 7:39 PM

Rex Grossman. No one maybe ever has had a longer NFL career while being so terrible. Good for him. He could buy or sell me but the guy is the definition of “a deer caught in the headlights”

  40. DicksSportingWoods says: Apr 3, 2014 7:46 PM

    Must be gang related.

  41. stunzeed5 says: Apr 3, 2014 7:51 PM

THREE TROPHIES IN THE DISPLAY CASE…..you’ll never see that in Philly…..and that’s probably adding the Flyers and Sixers and Phillies to the Eagles.

  42. profootballsquawk says: Apr 3, 2014 8:17 PM

  46. defscottyb says: Apr 4, 2014 1:05 AM

Devon Thomas’s old Skins jersey #… Sweet. Go Skins, Go Djax #11. Garcon + Djax = Mad Trouble for D’s. Spreads the field and opens up the already sick running game lol. Pick your poison… best 1/2 wr combo in football. Haters hate on, us Skins fan love it. Eagles we so dumb to let him go. It’s funny how before he signed with the Skins all the Eagle fans were saying how could they let him go. Now all of a sudden he’s a bum lol. Typical Eagle fans, salty as ever. I used to be terrified of Djax when he played us, so glad he is on our side now. We just stole your best player not named Shady.
