Plug gets pulled for DeSean Jackson interview on The Dan Patrick Show

DeSean

When new Washington receiver DeSean Jackson’s introductory conference call on Thursday ended abruptly as he was asked about what really happened in Philly, it seemed obvious he wouldn’t be doing a media victory lap to discuss his recent change in NFL circumstances.

When Paul Pabst, executive producer of The Dan Patrick Show, tweeted that DeSean Jackson would be joining the program on Thursday, it seemed that initial assumption was of the ass/you/me variety.

Ultimately, Jackson didn’t do the interview.

Pabst explains that a family member of Jackson’s set up the interview at 7:00 a.m. ET on Thursday, and that at 10:40 a.m. ET, roughly 50 minutes before the interview was scheduled to begin, Jackson’s P.R. representatives pulled the plug on it.

It’s unclear whether the team was involved in any way. As we hear it, there’s a chance that an exclusive of sorts has been promised to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, who has a local radio show in New York.

Regardless, it’s not a good look for a guy who needs to be doing things to help, not hurt, his image in the aftermath of the circumstances that got him run out of Philly.

UPDATE 2:16 p.m. ET: Denise White of EAG, Jackson’s P.R. firm, tells PFT via text message that Jackson was never confirmed for the show.
