RGIII says he’s still wearing No. 10

Among the questions that wide receiver DeSean Jackson faced during a Wednesday conference call formally introducing him as a member of the Redskins was one about what jersey number he’d be wearing in 2014.

Jackson wore No. 10 with the Eagles, a number that’s been on quarterback Robert Griffin III’s back since he joined the Redskins in 2012, and told reporters that nothing had been decided about who would be wearing the digits with the Redskins next season. It seemed like a bit of denial on Jackson’s part as starting quarterbacks who sell a lot of jerseys rarely shift their numbers after a new player joins the team and Griffin confirmed later in the day that he’ll be wearing the same number he wore in his first two seasons.

Mike Jones of the Washington Post reports that wide receiver Aldrick Robinson tweeted that he’d be switching from No. 11 to No. 15 for the coming season, but said it was “too early” to say whether Jackson would be taking over his old digits. The Redskins, meanwhile, have started selling Jackson jerseys on their website with the note that his number will be determined at some point in the future.
