Fox gets a new contract, too

Fox

On Friday, the coach who won the Super Bowl got a new contract. So did the guy who didn’t win the Super Bowl.

FOX’s Jay Glazer, who is emerging from IR after a reaction to surgical anesthesia, reports that Broncos coach John Fox has a new three-year deal.

Hired in 2011 after nine years as head coach in Carolina, has generated a record of 34-16 in 44 regular season games and six postseason games.

For those who think Fox was successful because he lucked into Peyton Manning at quarterback, Fox took the Broncos to the playoffs with Kyle Orton and Tim Tebow, too. Fox also had several contending teams with Jake Delhomme at quarterback.

Fox has taken both the Panthers and the Broncos to the Super Bowl. Last year, he missed four games after undergoing surgery to replace a heart valve.

UPDATE 12:12 a.m. ET 4/5/14: Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that Fox was due to make $3.5 million in 2014, the final year of his four-year contract. The new contract pays him $5.5 million per year.
