L.A. KISS makes home debut on gray field

As the classic KISS song Detroit Rock City goes, “10 o’clock and I know I gotta hit the road.”  But if you choose to hit the road at 10:00 p.m. ET on Saturday night, you may miss something memorable.

At that time, the AFL’s L.A. KISS will make their home debut on CBS Sports Network against the Portland Thunder.  And the game will be played on a field that isn’t green but gray, with the KISS logo in the end zone and an oversized guitar pick at midfield.

For those of you (like me) who spent plenty of time in the 1970s listening to KISS records and going to KISS concerts, it’s a strange convergence of two of our favorite pursuits.

Which for a guy like George Costanza would mean there’s only one thing left to complete the Trifecta.

Which may or may not cause him to hum a few bars of Nothin’ to Lose.

As both a life long KISS fan and football fan this whole LA Kiss thing makes me want to puke blood; pun intended. Gene and Paul were never athletes and know as much about football as Troy Aikman does about playing country music (remember his failed country album??). Just another way for Gene to make more $$$.

Looks cool to me. Reminds me of the old Sega game mutant league football.

Can’t wait for the game tomorrow! Samie Parker (WR)is on the Kiss too, played for the chiefs

I like the gray surface, much easier on the eyes than green. 32 teams in the NFL and they all have to have the same green color for their field, that’s kinda boring.

parker was terrible in KC. really held that team back. they have a decent player there and that offense is really unstoppable. instead he was just a total disappointment.

that said, I will be watching this. stupid draft getting pushed back has me wanting football and the NFL seems to want to only give us breakdowns of touchdown dances on NFL N or stupid segments with Dukes in a lab coat, so I guess Arena it is.

I would have called them the WAR MACHINE.

Nathan Enderle (Bears, Jags, Titans Chargers) is also one of the QBs for Portland, that is who LA is playing against

I can’t wait for them to play the jaGWARS.

That field looks RAW! I like it. It’s different in a good way.

With all of the great rock bands in the 70’s – Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Rush, Boston, Kansas, Jethro Tull etc. Kiss was an absolute joke. My friends and I made fun of anyone who liked Kiss.

I know this isn’t a music site but hey, they started it.

Arena League is better than the NFL. None of these stupid safety rules.

They’re playing at the Pond- go Ducks! On top of the players previously mentioned, they also have linebacker Beau Bell, who had a cup of coffee with the Browns and is an Orange County native.

They should of put Genes face with his tongue sticking out on the 50 yd line.

I laugh at anyone who puts Kansas above Kiss (except when alphabetically arranging random rock bands).

Kansas only had one album that barely breached mediocrity.

Always a good time just like ANY KISS SHOW!!!

I said brand, not band.. lol

  21. kcroyal says: Apr 4, 2014 6:32 PM

You mean the 25 yard line. I didn’t realize the field was that short.

The KISS cheerleaders look and move like hot strippers! Good family fun!
