Ravens re-sign Terrence Cody

The Ravens have kept busy the last couple of days by adding free agents Owen Daniels and Justin Forsett and they kept on working Friday.

The team has announced that they’ve reached agreement on a contract that will keep defensive tackle Terrence Cody with the team for the 2014 season. Cody was a free agent after playing out the contract he signed after the Ravens drafted him in the second round of the 2010 draft.

Cody’s return has been a possibility since he visited with the team last week to discuss continuing their working relationship. Cody has played 56 games for the Ravens since joining the team, starting 21 times and filling a run-stopping role for the most part.

With Arthur Jones leaving for Indianapolis as a free agent, the Ravens have talked about Brandon Williams moving into the starting lineup alongside Haloti Ngata and Chris Canty. Cody would presumably battle for backup snaps if the team goes through with that alignment come the regular season.

He has had 4 – 10 good snaps in 3 years.

He had to get no interest from anyone, so he took the offer (has to be close to the minimum) and we have to assume he’ll finally be motivated to get his fat butt in shape for the first time in his life and see what he can actually do in the NFL.

This one I’ll give the Ravens props for. Surprised Cody didnt get more interest on the open market.

See teams, this is called building depth through your own homegrown talent. It’s why Ozzie is generally better at his job than your GM.

seems like another Alabama Bust so far. its unfortunate. has the size and all, but so far only a few really impressive plays.

I mean, he may not even make the roster with that contract, so giving ozzie all this credit for getting a guy who had little to no interest elsewhere….no. I’ll gladly give him credit for all the other awesome stuff he does though. but this is a 90 man move right now

Cody is a fat guy that can’t move, you wanna see a true elite DT then watch Johnathan Hankins this season as the Giants destroy anyone and everyone in their path

    2013 Terence Cody Statistics = 7 tackles

ozzie newsome probably gave him $78,000,000.

    The Wizard of $120,000,000.

The Wizard of 2 rings since 2000.

I would be so irritated if I were a Ravens fan. You give a bum like Flacco all that cash to finish 9-7ish and sign scrubs. Thanks a lot Joesph. I’d bet anything Ravens never make another Super Bowl because Flacco sucking up all the cap space.

And even if they do make a Super Bowl they are going to get their domes bounced by the Vikings.

Too many Bama defensive busts the last few years, and I say that as a Bama fan. Makes me nervous about the possibility of my Bears possibly going Clinton-Dix or Mosely in this year’s draft.

Put up or shut up time Mount Cody

  13. grimreaper12 says: Apr 4, 2014 4:56 PM

I’m surprised that Ozzie didn’t give him a mega deal. After all, this is the same dope that gave Joe Flacco 120m. lmao

And what are the Bengals plans with Dalton??? Your team needs to handle their own business before you stick your nose in others’… Honestly, what have they done this offseason besides losing both coordinators?

You need to read and do a little research before you write. The Ravens had the 11th most salary cap room heading into free agency this year (how do you think we made all those signings???). On top of that, Flacco’s cap hit wasn’t even in the top 10 among qb’s this year. Guys like Bradford, Cutler, and Stafford are higher on the cap hit list. Flacco’s contract is not the issue, do a little research…

    @ cfeeley52 …..

Don’t try to talk sense to people. They never let facts get in the way of something they’ve already typed 1000 times in here before.

If Flacco is the most overrated QB in the NFL–and he certainly is—then Newsome is there as the most overrated GM. How can any real Ravens football fan be happy about who they have signed, and who they have lost?

  20. djshnooks says: Apr 4, 2014 11:09 PM

I’ve never heard of a player visiting HIS OWN team during free agency. Lmao.

Can’t believe how far he has fallen…he was supposed to be the next Vince Wilfork.
