The breaking point between Chris Johnson and the Tennessee Titans could be coming on Friday.
The 2009 NFL offensive player of the year tweeted Thursday night that he’s traveling back to Tennessee. Johnson’s agent, Joel Segal, said Wednesday that he fully expected Johnson to be gone from the Titans soon, either via trade or by being released.
Seeing that any team that would want to trade for Johnson would have to take on his $8 million salary for this season, it’s much more likely he’ll be released by the Titans. Whether it’s releasing or trading Johnson, the decision is likely to come before Monday when Tennessee’s offseason program is scheduled to begin.
With Johnson returning to the Titans’ facility on Friday, that decision will likely be made sooner rather than later.
