Earlier today, we pointed out that the Steelers got receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey at a CBA-induced bargain.
Base salary of $735,000, signing bonus of $65,000, cap number of $635,000.
The Redskins got the same bargain, with veteran quarterback Colt McCoy. Per a source with knowledge of the contract, McCoy gets a base salary of $735,000 and a signing bonus of $65,000. The deal carries a cap number of $635,000.
With only $65,000 guaranteed, there’s a chance McCoy, a third-round pick of the Browns in 2010 who spent 2013 with the 49ers, won’t make the 53-man roster. There’s also a chance he’ll be the No. 2 quarterback, in the event the Redskins decide to trade Kirk Cousins.
Either way, it’s an affordable investment for the Redskins at one the most important position on the field.
