Russell Okung in a boot after a year of toe problems

The Seahawks were able to win a Super Bowl despite playing musical chairs on the offensive line all season.

And it appears one of the members of that line is taking some steps toward getting healthier again.

Left tackle Russell Okung was photographed in a walking boot while at Oklahoma State’s practice Saturday, leading some to wonder whether he had surgery on his left big toe.

As noted by Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said at the Scouting Combine that it appeared they weren’t going to have to do surgery.

The Seahawks are already faced with replacing right tackle Breno Giacomini and backup Paul McQuistan, who started the eight games Okung missed. Giacomini signed with the Jets, while McQuistan signed with the Browns in free agency.

The boot could just be part of Okung’s rehabilitation regimen, keeping the weight off the problematic digit, in hopes he can get back to being the Sgt. Hulka of the Seahawks line.

Let’s face it, Russell Okung is a STUD at left tackle for the Hawks “when healthy” or not hurt. However, we NEED to draft for this position early in the draft for the future.

I say you make the youngsters work for the Sgt. Hulka reference. I think they all know how to use the Google machine.

@ beardinals. He’s an all-pro veteran with a superbowl ring. I think he has earned his right to the addage.

When you have the best QB in the NFL in Russell Wilson, as a fan you just tend to not really worry about these types of things. Seattle will win the super bowl the next 8-10 years in a row

Seattle is definitely gonna score some depth on the O-line…

The Hawks may have lost some players in free agency but no other team in the league is better set up to absorb the lost by virtue of their depth.

I can’t wait to see what Carroll and Schneider come up with in the draft. They’re unsurpassed in their ability to evaluate players.

A healthy Okung would sure be nice,…and perhaps a few less holding penalties…

    Go Hawks!!!

Put a fullback to the left of Wilson, should take care of any worries about the performance of Okung.
