Jaguars to meet with Manziel, Carr

Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan has come to learn just how important a quarterback is for a team to be successful in the NFL. While Chad Henne may still be the answer at quarterback for the Jaguars in the short-term, finding the Jaguars’ next franchise quarterback is of pivotal importance.

Jacksonville is set to host a pair of potential solutions at quarterback this week ahead of next month’s NFL Draft.

Albert Breer of the NFL Network reports Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel is set to meet with the Jaguars on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr will follow with a visit to Jacksonville on Wednesday.

The Jaguars have not ranked in the top 10 in total offense since 2007 when David Garrard was under center. It was also the last season Jacksonville made the playoffs.

Manziel would likely have to be the Jaguars first pick if they view him as their quarterback of the future. Carr could potentially be snagged later on in the draft and may still be on the board for Jacksonville for their second round selection.

Jacksonville has made some quality additions to their roster this offseason in free agency. The Jaguars have the potential to be much improved next season if they can find stability at quarterback.
