Jermichael Finley to have X-ray and MRI in coming weeks

Jermichael Finley AP

Former Green Bay Packers tight end is still on the road toward getting medical clearance after an injury to his spine and neck last season.

According to Josina Anderson of ESPN.com, Finley is set to have another X-ray performed on Thursday with an MRI expected within the next two weeks. A league source confirmed the timeline and tests to PFT.

The results of the scans will be sent to Pittsburgh Steelers team doctor Joseph Maroon for further analysis. Maroon performed the spinal fusion surgery on Finley.

Several teams remain interested in Finley if he’s able to get medical clearance. The Seattle Seahawks hosted Finley on a free agent visit earlier this offseason and may still be one of the teams interested.

I wish him the best but given Collins couldn’t make it back with the exact same injury the future of Finley in the NFL is pretty bleak.

Retire, Jermichael. The risk is too great. You have a family who needs and depends on you.

He might be done in Green Bay, and if the Packers draft a tight end early, he REALLY will be done.

  14. tvjules says: Apr 9, 2014 7:27 AM

Why would he even chance it? Retire.

You act like having a winning mentality is a bad thing. Maybe the queens should brainwash frazier then maybe your team wont finish in last again.
