Panthers keep starting defensive tackle Colin Cole

Colin Cole will stay with the Panthers for at least another year.

Cole, a defensive tackle who started 13 games for the Panthers last season, has agreed to a one-year contract, Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer reports. That means the Panthers’ excellent front seven from 2013 will return intact in 2014.

The 2013 season was a tremendous comeback for Cole, who should have received some Comeback Player of the Year consideration. After missing the entire 2011 and 2012 seasons with ankle injuries, Cole was a big part of a very good defense in Carolina.

Now the 33-year-old Cole is poised to be a big part of the Panthers’ defense again.

NFL’s best QB in that picture right there. Train conductor for the Dynasty Express!

Good for Colin Cole, and good for the Panthers. We often hear too much about the bad boys of the league, Colin is one of the unsung good guys, great family man, works hard, humble and competitive.

Good player. Played well for the Seahawks for a couple years until Pete Carroll went with Brandon Mebane at NT. Can still play though.

Decent resigning. Is there a veteran left OT in the house? Still no word on Decoud? The defense has been addressed in free agency more than the offense. More work on the offense is needed before the draft.

Is this a Panthers article or a Russell Wilson article ? Goodness. Love RW but come on ..

Great signing Cole was solid for us and our front 7 is going to be even better in 2014 with another year together. Now let’s get Cam some weapons!!!

Cole was a big part of that upgraded DT rotation that, along with the 2 rookies, took us from a laughingstock against the run to a top overall front 7.

If we get a starting OL and DB depth, and a super-stud receiver in the draft, I think the bold predictions of the Panthers demise will be rendered greatly exaggerated.
