Report: Colin Kaepernick investigated for alleged sexual assault

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has not been charged, but is reportedly being investigated in connection with an incident in a Miami hotel last week.

TMZ reports that police are investigating an alleged incident at the Viceroy Hotel in Miami this month. Although TMZ reported the investigation as centering on a sexual assault, the incident report made no specific allegations.

The investigation is described as in the “beginning stages.” No details were provided about the nature of the allegations against Kaepernick.

TMZ reached out to Kaepernick’s agent and the 49ers and neither had any comment.

UPDATE 12:43 p.m. ET: The 49ers released the following statement from General Manager Trent Baalke: “The 49ers organization is aware of the recent media report regarding Colin Kaepernick and is in the process of gathering the pertinent facts.”

Sceptical. Pro-Athletes are an easy target. Klattu (posted above) is right, though. These guys put themselvs in bad situations.

  15. dickjagger says: Apr 10, 2014 12:40 PM

Damn… Could be nothing; or could be another example of “sir-inks-allot” not keeping his big mouth shut? Either way, not good for a guy seeking big money.

I agree with another poster though.
Why do they put themselves in this type of a position?

  31. bobzilla1001 says: Apr 10, 2014 1:00 PM

Here’s some free advice for Kaepernick:
    1.) Call Roethlisberger’s attorney.
2.) Secure a mentor/mouthpiece from ESPN. Merrile Hoge is already taken.
3.) Proclaim you are reborn for a third time.
4.) Find a woman willing to marry you. ASAP.
    5.) Have children.
    Problem solved.

Until charges are filed I’m going to assume there is nothing to this. We’ve seen how these things have played out before and money is too often the real reason for these types of allegations. How ever, if he is eventually charged, it would imply there was at least enough evidence to proceed to trial, in which case I might change my mind.

  52. kingpel says: Apr 10, 2014 1:12 PM

I’m a Ram fan but no way I am piling on here. Lots of people seem to have it out for this kid. Let’s see how it plays out.

  53. trollhammer20 says: Apr 10, 2014 1:13 PM

Not a Niner fan, but this is just a report, nothing more.

The reason so many people dislike Ben is because he found himself under similar suspicions not once, but twice.

As an old prof of mine used to say: “One time is an Event. Twice, it’s a Trend.”

Will see how this shakes down before jumping off the roof to the first conclusion I can find.

  54. hmpennypacker says: Apr 10, 2014 1:15 PM

Lets see how this plays out before finding him guilty. However I seem to recall, early in Harbaugh’s first year, a player saying that “coach harbaugh says everything is forgivable. Accept mistreating women. You put hands on a woman there is no forgiveness”. We may get to find out how true that statement was.

  55. dstep24 says: Apr 10, 2014 1:15 PM

As a Seahawks fans that can’t stand Kaperchoke I still won’t pass judgement until all the facts are out. I will judge Jim Harbaugh though. What an arrogant tool he’s turned out to be. Throwing stones at the Seahawks and saying his team is “beyond reproach” . You have to have the arrogance of Harbaugh to not realize he has 53 young dudes with money and eventually it’s going to happen to his sorry roster. Now you have Culliver hitting a cyclist and fleeing the scene and although I won’t judge Kaperchoke. Being investigated for sexual assault isn’t beyond reproach.

  91. dbfan4ever says: Apr 10, 2014 1:52 PM

Here is a guy that is supposed to be a franchise QB, and he is hanging out with busters and bongs. I hate to say it but Kap isn’t the answer. We need leaders and role models. 124. doggeatdogg says: Apr 10, 2014 6:27 PM

Wait for DNA and the hospital results. This woman is saying:

-she has been sexually involved with him before
-she did not like his buddies taking a peak at her
    -she mixed her own drink
-was encouraged to smoke pot and did
-blacked out and ended in the hospital no memory

She sounds credible being that she seems to be going out of her way to detail a scenario that would exonerated the men. It comes to consent and hospital report detailing trauma and DNA. If a woman is out of it, it’s not a ticket to sex.
