The Panthers waived wide receiver R.J. Webb on Friday, per the NFL’s daily notice of personnel moves.

The 26-year-old Webb spent 2013 on injured reserve with the Panthers. He suffered a torn ACL on June 11. The Panthers had signed him a less than a month earlier.

Webb (6-2, 205) was one of nine receivers on the Panthers’ roster. The Panthers will have a revamped receiving corps this season after releasing Steve Smith and seeing Brandon LaFell depart in free agency.

Webb played at Furman from 2005 through 2009, catching 85 passes for 1,082 yards and nine touchdowns.
