Report: Austin Collie tries out with Redskins

The Washington Redskins have already made improving their wide receiver corps a significant focal point this offseason with the signings of DeSean Jackson and Andre Roberts.

Despite the new additions, the Redskins are still looking into free agent pass catchers.

According to Howard Balzer of KSDK.com, former New England Patriots receiver Austin Collie had a tryout with the Redskins.

After missing almost all of the 2012 season due to injures, Collie re-surfaced with the Patriots last season and appeared in seven games. Collie started one game and caught six passes for 63 yards in the regular season for New England. He added five catches for 72 yards in two postseason games as well.

With Jackson, Roberts, Santana Moss, Pierre Garcon, Leonard Hankerson, David Gettis and Aldrick Robinson all under contract, Collie would likely be fighting for a roster spot if signed.

    Can Collie play Offensive Line?

Cause that’s a big problem for the Skins.

    But they got Desean instead.

    Run Robert, Run…

Good luck Austin ! I wish you could stay with the Pats but you have to grab the opportunities. You are a solid player that’s why BB always went back to get you. Take care and best of luck!–

Shame he gets injured so often, but at least he never dogs it.

I have to give Collie props but he has had more bumps and bruises than most people have had hot meals. He moves from team to team trying out each MASH unit.

It looks like they’ve decided to cut their losses with DeSean Jackson.

How does this guy keep getting medically cleared? Teams need to stop signing him for his own good. Put him on the Javid Best list.

If he doesn’t have a logo I don’t want him

Wouldn’t he be the number 1 receiver in Carolina? I thought he was pretty clutch in his limited time in New England last year. I’m surprised that the Patriots didn’t sign him to a low base, high incentive contract.
