A police report from Miami landed 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in the news last week and now reports from Los Angeles International Airport are ending the week with another player in the news.

A witness named John Egan told Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group that linebacker Aldon Smith was waiting for a Southwest flight when he was approached by several police officers who led him away from the gate. TMZ has a picture of the reported incident that shows police handcuffing the man identified as Smith.

“I heard him say, ‘I did nothing wrong,’” Egan said. “The whole thing ratcheted up from there. The cops were trying to calm him down. He wasn’t out of control; just agitated.”

Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee reports that Smith “became belligerent in a security line and said something about having a bomb.”

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed an arrest was made but said they would not identify him until he was booked. We’ll follow up with more one way or another once they do.
