The Lions took a flier on veteran cornerback Rashean Mahtis last year, wondering if he had much left.

He turned out to be one of their most dependable players, so it’s no surprise they want to bring him back.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Lions are signing Mathis to a one-year deal.

There were concerns about the 33-year-old cornerback, who spent his first 10 years with the Jaguars. But he started 13 games for the Lions last year, showing flashes of his old form, and adding some stability to a secondary that was in flux.
