Report: Saints host five cornerbacks on Tuesday

Bradley Roby

A team that’s a prime candidate to add at cornerback in the 2014 NFL Draft reportedly hosted five prospects at the position on Tuesday.

According to ESPN’s Adam Caplan, Oklahoma’s Aaron Colvin, Lindenwood’s Pierre Desir, Oklahoma State’s Justin Gilbert, Baylor’s Demetri Goodson and Ohio State’s Bradley Roby all visited the Saints today.

The Saints select 27th in Round One. They recently signed former Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey, bolstering their options at the position in the short term. However, Bailey will be 36 at the beginning of the 2014 campaign. Also, Patrick Robinson, the Saints’ 2010 first-round pick, will be a free agent after this season.

I hope they bring Philip Gaines in. He’s wildly underrated in the public eye.

Pierre Desir is interesting. Maybe they think they might miss on some of the others and are putting the small school kid in their back pocket.

I’d also be evaluating this year’s draft too for the next Xavier Rhodes.

Like I said earlier, a 42 year old, 4.74 40 yard dash running, cap causality from Denver is not going to get it done.

Your GM, whomever he is – agrees obviously.

Saints recently have pulled at least one small school talent each draft. Last year we had two, one in Armstead who looks to be our starting LT this season and another in Rufus Johnson who stuck with the practice team and many hope can shine in training camp this year and earn a roster spot.

Keep dumping money into that secondary. Sounds like Mickey and Sean are scared to death of Julio!!
