Offensive lineman Josh Samuda was going to need a lot of things to go his way this offseason in order to gain a role on the Vikings come the regular season.

It doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. Matt Vensel of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that Samuda, who signed a reserve/future contract with the team in January, fractured and dislocated his ankle during Tuesday’s workout. He’s expected to have surgery on Wednesday and is probably a candidate to miss the entire season.

That would make two years without any game action for Samuda, who was waived by the Dolphins before the start of last season and never caught on anywhere else.

The Vikings also added a player to the roster on Tuesday when they signed tight end Allen Reisner. Reisner was previously a member of the Vikings, playing 10 games for them across the 2011 and 2012 seasons before being waived late in 2012. He was claimed by the Jaguars and caught five passes in five games for the Jaguars last season.
