Ravens visited with C.J. Mosley, Jimmie Ward recently

Rolando McClain wasn’t the only former Alabama linebacker to pay the Ravens a visit this week.

Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports that the Ravens had C.J. Mosley in for a pre-draft visit. For Mosley’s sake, let’s hope it went better than McClain’s attempt to restart his NFL career.

Mosley is considered the top inside linebacker prospect in this year’s draft and is expected to be a first-round pick next month. Mosley suffered a handful of injuries during his time with the Crimson Tide, but said recently that he got a clean bill of health at the combine.

The Ravens re-signed Daryl Smith this offseason and also bring back Arthur Brown, Albert McClellan and Josh Bynes at inside linebacker, but saw Jameel McClain sign with the Giants. That doesn’t make it the most pressing of needs, especially with a hole at safety next to Matt Elam.

On that front, Wilson reports that the Ravens have also met with Northern Illinois safety Jimmie Ward recently. Ward is coming off a foot injury, but has been able to work out this spring and is projected to be selected in the first two rounds.

    If the Ravens select Mosley I hope that he works out a lot better than the last three picks from Tuscaloosa (Upshaw), (Cody) & acquiring McClain

    Courtney Upshaw is one of the best young Lb’s at setting the edge. He’s a great rotational guy playing behind a premiere pass rusher. The rest you mentioned, you have a point. Throwing Upshaw in there is foolish

    @ceejayb

    you’re right. Might of jumped the gun a bit on Upshaw. It was the showing up out of shape that got me miffed, but he showed up on gamedays.

    Would love to see my Packers pick up both these players as I think Mosley and Ward are going to be very good players.

    Uh, corners dude. The ravens need corners. They let the wrong guys go. Jimmy smith does not have the speed or agility to keep up with most outside receivers.

    He can so fine against bigger, slower receivers… But they lost a lot more talent when cart Williams left, than they gained by drafting smith.

    Watermelon, Cary Williams is not as good as Jimmy Smith. Nice try, troll.

    Lmao at Cary Williams, if anything they got worse at CB from losing Corey Graham this year, not Williams the previous. Despite common perception, Ravens actually improved their Super Bowl winning 17th ranked defense tob 12th last year, pretty impressive considering all of the new cogs there. I think a rangy free safety like Ward wouldbhelp with their ’13 defenses’ only weakness: a lack of killer instinct in the back end of that defense after giving up multiple leads in crunch time after their inept offense would aomehow get down the field and take a lead.

    ugh – get away from them Ozzie, we need those guys.

    Go draft offense or something, you guys got enough defense, we’re still stuck with AJ Hawk – get away from CJ…
